@2hd+1jh3pr3ep, maybe it’s true and maybe it’s not. Who knows?? It’s best to not lead off an argument with “Most people think…”.

@2hd+1jh3pr3ep, you are exactly right. It would also be wrong to say most people don’t like the current administration.
You could choose to believe presidential approval polls if you wanted to, depending on whether or not you trust polls. Best to just share your own personal opinion and leave it at that.
That’s like saying most people like the current administration in Washington. It isn’t true.
@29j+1jh3pr3ep, so exactly. When did you last speak to “most companies” to get this information? Perhaps you did an online survey? Just because you believe something and your office buddy down the hall believes it as well, doesn’t mean that it is an opinion shared by most people or most companies. It really is a cheap way to try to win an argument when you run out of facts, just to say well most people think…
Oxy was NEVER an operator of choice. Most companies know Oxy as a failure that they cannot trust in deals or ops of any kind. Don't be so ignorant.
We could understand lowering the dividend during extremely low oil prices but the low dividend has been going on too long. Time for a change.
The oxy board never disappoints compared to all the other O&G companies.
Truly the most entertaining for years.
- 72% is the dividend rate. Went from $0.72 to $0.01 right after the APC buyout. Crawled back to $0.22 . Don't ever equate this to what WB got for getting VH across the finish line.
And that's why WB ponied up the money. He gets preferred dividends... That's not what the rest of the shareholders get. You need to try a little harder.
Below is from Yahoo Finance. That second one is where the dividends go you speak about.
- Occidental Petroleum: $911,597,004 (includes preferred dividend income)
Believe it or not, the top income-producing stock for 2025 in the 44-stock, $296 billion portfolio Warren Buffett oversees at Berkshire Hathaway is integrated oil and gas company Occidental Petroleum (NYSE: OXY). The more than 264 million shares of Occidental common stock Berkshire holds are set to generate almost $232.5 million in dividend income, while the $8.489 billion in preferred stock yielding 8% will produce another $679.1 million. The end result is north of $911 million in expected dividends from Occidental this year.
Really? Where did the dividends go? It's a shame you have been on a different planet since the APC merger. Between the banks and WB, there is no money to pay dividends. The debt is the driver for this company and the reason the t^*d hasn't been bought and put out of its misery.
Too bad to hear all of this trash talk. Oxy used to be in play on Wall Street with high dividends. What happened.
Top choice? The list is too long of E&P companies ahead of Oxy. I thought they were in the basement with Marathon till they was scooped up by COP. What a joke. Stock price does not lie.
With all the acquisitions in recent years, it doesn't matter. There are much less options. You are a top choice by default because you are still around.
You are so totally ignorant about APC contribution to international.
Most of international came thru the APC acquisition. Yep, we all know APC were oil finders...Strip away the recent purchases and see what's left...A small pile of yech
You are not an employee or shareholder...
Read the Annual report to educate yourself on the international operations. They are indeed impressive.
Did I just step into the wayback time machine? Making deals with Gaddafi in Libya is so 70's. Oxy hasn't even come close to your post since the last century. Oxy is at best a domestic US operator....
Oxy was the operator of choice where they could bring economics to the deal or have special personal connections with royalty. The technology the company offers is not that special compared to the majors. The company is certainly competent to compete on the world stage and is no second rate company.
I needed a laugh. That was a good one.
Have you seen anything that would lead you to believe this? Press releases, quarterly investors presentations, annual report, stock price, dividends or talking to your friends when you get your grass smoothie. If you have, please enlighten me. Carbon capture is not the flavor of the month. Drill Baby Drill is the mantra from the White House...Oops...Not sure Oxy can keep up given its debt load. Going to be a long four years or until another company steps in and puts an end to this...
Sorry, I fell off my chair when I read this. When was Oxy ever the operator of choice anywhere?
