Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

January 30 is the day

Next big round is near Q4 results which are expected to be ok but not great. The fact is market is saturated with near 100% pops for all carriers. Redundant positions and support functions that can be eliminated or outsourced will be.

Good luck to those that escaped the hangman’s noose last time. πŸ’€

Based on what happened in spring 2023, the survey is sent before the layoff to not negatively skew the results. Then they meet with their org to read out the results after that round of layoffs is over.

The SLT doesn't care about accurate feedback, it's just a performance.

Yes, the layoffs are coming. Case in point, the Bonus and Compensation review has been accelerated - pulled in from the schedule used year-after-year. Although the layoffs are coming, they won't be until March at the earliest. But, when they arrive, it will be a great deal of frontline folks, especially the field under the premise of this so-called operational and digital transformation to AI and machine-learning. Keep telling yourself that you're safe until the day your number is called!

The biggest red flag last January that indicated massive layoffs was the announcement that employees could only carry over 40 hrs (under the BS excuse of work/life balance). The real reason was the company wanted employees to use as much PTO as possible so they wouldn't have to pay it out in a lump sum severance. If the policy this year is still only allowing 40 hrs PTO carry over then expect more layoffs this year.

It's because PTO hits OPEX. Less PTO carry over means less OPEX means a company looks more profitable.

You do know that carryover of PTO is a financial liability, right? The reason to limit to 40 is to make the numbers look better.

This might explain why we is only get carryover 40 hours of vacation

Interesting. This seems to line up close to rsu and espp vesting if you consider warn requirements. I could be wrong though.

I’m sure everything will be fine. The good thing is we. Don’t has to share the bonus moo with the β€œrecently departed β€œ employee. More for us! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Is this the same person who said there would be a huge layoff at the end of November? There will always be more layoffs but unless you are a senior executive, you have no idea when they will happen.

Nice role play. Saturation has been reached across the country for years. That is why SMRA is being targeted, lots of market share to take there.
