Wdi layoffs Glendale

Does anyone know how they determined who gets layoff? It definitely wasn’t by seniority. I got axed yesterday.

Layoffs on smaller teams are definitely personal, but sometimes it's about saving someone who has gained favor more than it is about who they cut. As @2fkq+17eblC1K asserted, I have heard that committees are formed, usually directors and above, and pits them against each other for their recommendations on who from their team will go. Sometimes it's VPs or above who make the ultimate decision. So, even if your direct leader is loyal to you and you do good, consistent work, if someone else has ever had an issue with you, didn't like something you said once, or prefers someone else due to nepotism, alignment, whatever, you can get cut.

3 of those 4 were complete pricks, so they made the right call.

My wife's team had the four newest managers to the team laid off, not seniority with the company. It's BS and makes no sense, but it is what it is now I guess.

There was a committee appointed and many of theses s— up sh–s met and ranked and went over lists, about a month ago on a Friday. It will be impossible to get any real info for awhile but they used the Covid excuse to cover their latest hair brained reactionary reorganizing, no one hardly left To question there stupid and wasteful decisions. This is the same group of people who disgraced WDI with their actions and example in Shanghai and bumbled away the second gate in Hong Kong ,although the previous 2 regimes are complicit. It’s not just businesses it’s your individual lives but these people will tell you we have to respect each other in the workplace while they cheat , lie and live the most amoral lives which they try to hide. Marty wouldn’t have.yes there your friend and colleague
until they are behind closed doors tossing your career away and making decisions to financially make sure their gravy train and pathetic adulation continue.
Bob Chapek is who they answer to now and they know it.
Do as I intimidate or your gone.
This current round of dumb–sednes of the mo–n minority will take several years to right but it will over time.

Same company as you left, No.

Some of these little men read these boards, so it’s not all secret since some of you can’t seem to shut up.

The Disney Company has promised these 10 year plus cast members that they will be able to have park sign in privileges for the rest of there lives and now they are told NO RETIRED STATIS POSSIBLE, they lose the right to retire and and the health plan at 65 that was promised to Cast hired before 1994 as part of their retirement. Many of these cast have 20 and 30 years of service and now they get NO main gate passes even for themselves. It like they never existed. That's just good business I guess. Have a Disney Day!

@ycm+17eblC1K: I couldn’t get a clear answer as well.

@1qao+17eblC1K: I’ve noticed the same thing. It seems like most people affected are those in senior positions (but not director/executive type roles so much), who are over 40 years old.

Another variable that I noticed, had to do with who hired you. If you weren’t hired by the management that currently runs your group, there was a higher chance of being affected.

When you see the list of who is being laid off, majority are over 50. Majority of the s—ups are remaining. And management really doesn't like smarter people then they are. WDI race to the bottom.

Please do tell. I asked my leader and was told she couldn’t discuss that with me.

I asked my director and was told very specifically why decisions were made and the rationale. Why don't you ask your portfolio or studio leader to explain how the decisions were made on your team?

It's determined by nepotism, how many people one sleeps with or not, and if you kiss up or not. Did I leave anything out?
