Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

MLK Holiday - deducted 1 personal day.

Has anyone noticed one of our personal days was taken away for 2018 - used to get 56 hours (7 days) and now only 48 hours (6 days)? While we are given an extra holiday for MLK day, we lost a personal day. Anyone else notice this? The loss of a personal day was never communicated in all of this. Shady.

It wasn’t communicated to anyone on my team! The entire CFS department here was shocked.

To the idiot that said you get quota relief....not if you work on those days, which most in retail do, so no, you're not getting quota relief.

I'm am not saying I agree with it, but personal days are, by their definition, "floating holidays" As I'm sure anyone who has been around 25+ years can attest to. So it only makes sense one would go in order to add another holiday. Be thankful you get both personal and vacation in general and move on. It's not going to change. As far as not knowing about it, what kind of rock have you been under? It was communicated.

If have new years (January 1) as well as MLK day (January 15?) Then you only need 1 personal/vacation day this month for quota relief. You're welcome

It's a disgrace always taking, What has MLK day have to do with my personal days, nothing! And no one has complained, like the sheep that you are, I complained to my Manager, after he woke up he tried to spin it,we have an extra holiday, I told him we work in retail Genius" and work the day anyway, thus we lose a personal day unlike our corporate friends.

Not complaining - but just find it odd that it’s being promoted as an added Company Holiday. We really weren’t “given” the day as a Holiday, when we lost a personal day from our time off allowance.

Look at it this way, since it's a company holiday if you're working it you'll get paid double time and a half. Quit complaining.

Funny I was on 3 calls, received emails and had our HR rep come in and discuss. Perhaps you should jump on that McDonald’s train with the “know it all king of commissions” and leave. At least our team morale will go up in your absence. #TeamSejal 🙌👸

Unless you work in retail, then you're working! So now we've lost a personal day and we are stuck working all day.....seems about right for Verizon.

Many of us already take it as a personal day. School is out so makes sense to make it a company holiday (i.e., force everyone to take the same personal day). Makes the company some brownie points and creates a little bit of efficiency as that's one less day of variability in the workyear.

Political correctness. The left has invaded Verizon.

This is the wireline way. I am sure some union puke will be along shortly saying how you should be in the union since they get lots of days off. Be sure and remind them wireline has been bleeding money for years while wireless was the cash cow. Not anymore since idiot wireline is now running both. When the northeast went on strike the last time all of the so called useless wireless people got trained for about a day or two went and did their work and customer satisfaction went up. Tell a person everything you need to know about a union puke.

Well, Verizon determines that you need to observe MLK, so you just need to do what they believe. Never challenge any of their policy decisions, as they are always right.

Whenever I take a personal day I get three days behind so not worth it.

I never take them anyway. Just too understaffed.
