Saw a post on LinkedIn by one of the directors inviting applicants for hardware and firmware engineers to work at Houston and Singapore. If you are out there and looking for a great career you do not want to miss this opportunity.

“Don’t be a dumb a–. They ain’t hiring.”
This is correct. If you are a dump a- like the poster, then Sperry won’t hire you.
I actually know a couple of people that just got hired on for Sperry projects. It is worth looking into. It is contract work but a great opportunity for IT side.
Don’t be a dumb a–. They ain’t hiring.
No value at sorry In North America. Huge waste of effort.
Doesn’t make sense how Sperry can hire engineers if there is no work.
In case you haven't noticed there is no work in North America, and probably won't anytime soon. Probably why Sperry is the only PSL making any kind of profit right now.
All Sperry is good for in North America is having some other service to throw into a Halliburton service package just to have their pressure pumping work.
Sperry stopped creating value when purchased.
Are you implying Sperry has no innovation and has a bunch of mediocre engineers?
It is like using a old modem to go to the internet vs a 1gb fiber optic connection. Bandwidth , speed and data quality is everything. Sperry has not changed at all. As long as it works, send it to the job. It does no matter if the data is good or bad.
And the fiber optics run downhole alongside the casing is so slow and inefficient - nobody wants slower unless it’s old people bulldogging.
As long as the bandwidth is sufficient to get the data up that is needed the telemetry doesn't really matter. For jobs where bandwidth is really critical we run wired pipe anyway.
Sperry keeps producing more and more tools with colorful names but one thing never changes. The telemetry your tools use is way inferior to Baker's or schlumberger.
Sperry pays quite well. I know this as I work for Sperry. We lost quite a lot of engineers few months back and we are now struggling to keep up to the work load.
Some directors may be different, like one poster who said they are a bunch of A - grade.... most of them are great and they are more like A + grade... we are all working hard to increase our shareholder returns...
If this is not about the money and benefits then work for free every day 12 hours or more. It will be fun. The Directors will really like that. After all, you are making them rich.
Exactly, this is not all about money. We work 12 plus hours regularly on interesting things and deliver great products on time.
I dont know what you guys are smoking but the primary reason I work is because of the benefits the company gives me. I am going to retire some day and I dont want to spend the rest of my retirement working on my little flower garden. If there is another company giving me better benefits than this Sperry sh– hole, I will take it. I currently work here as firmware engineer so I know what I am talking about.
Covid 19 is not the only epidemic affecting Sperry. Sperry is also suffering from an epidemic of Low IQ's.
5 years later and you still come to this website to complain and you claim these other people are lossers? If you were dumb enough to not realize what you said then I'm sure those lossers don't miss you much.
What is wrong with working 12 hours a day? We all do that frequently in Halliburton and as a full time employee there is no overtime pay. Do not just look for money in a job.
I’m not taking advice from some who for 60 months stayed at a terrible job. I’m callIng you a troll that differently fell off some very short bus or you drive for 25 cents a mile.
You have to ask yourself why they are hiring. Sperry is a real sh– hole. Firmware guys in Sperry keep on quitting. I worked for that group as a firmware engineer 5 years ago. I quit. Be prepared to work more than 12 hours a day including weekend sometimes. There is no compensation for the extra hours. If they hire you they will tell you all about the CVA bonus you are supposed to get every year. In all the years I worked for them I only got the bonus once. Some of the firmware developers that worked with me suffered from high blood pressure from all the stress. Besides that, the directors are a bunch of A-holes. I am happy were I work now. I get payed for any extra hours and on top of that I get 5% quarterly bonuses. Find yourself a better job. The Sperry guys are a bunch of loosers.
