Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

GFS stock went up for no reason and plunged now with lock up period ending soon

Any observations or rationals behind GFS quick rise and fall?
Felt more like speculation earlier on and lost steam when the short ratio went up to 20% of floating shares.

Isn't it just wonderful that the end of the lock-in period coincides with the bear market?

Me too. It’s so weird to me how these higher levels love to claim they are transparent, but clearly are not telling the whole story. It’s shady. They clearly have agendas and think we are too stupid too see?? Half the people here are PHDs or have higher levels of education then they possess. A lot of my colleagues or people I speak too see right through it.

Truth is. Bottom line. They exploit us.
I have never worked for such a fake company full of lies and misrepresentations in my entire career.

They lie and misrepresent the truth. Package it and advertise it and promote these lies to the workforce. (I am not sure if they think we bought it?? Which if they do that is an insult to our intelligence)

They deserve to be taught a lesson and exposed and hurt by a stock price crash. But unfortunately it the end we will be the ones to get hurt the most by this.

Spot on. Netflix sees another 27% drop today. I pray to god that GFS experiences this to teach the management a lesson on their arrogance and dishonesty.

@1duf+1gjviIFq You are so correct and the investors are already thinking this as they had brought it up at the last earnings call, to which Tom mentioned that people are willing to pay higher ASP as GF is offering highly differentiated technology

Especially after Jim Cramer mentioned how great this company is just like how he asked retail investors to invest in FB and NFLX before their huge drop.

A company that fails to make handsome profits after 2 super cycle years will not last when the cycle returns to normal peak. Brace for impact, GFS stock holders!!

I wonder this too. Looking through all the info and data that GF must post now, GF is not in great shape. Don’t get me wrong it’s not on fire but it’s clear indicators of not being in a great place. So why is stock up?? Also gf lost that $220 million tax refund right after announcing fab 8.2 (might be reason that stalled) and they have ibm lawsuit looming on horizon (for 7nm).

Googling and reading all the reports from finical institutions …. It almost seems like the finical analyst don’t know what they are talking about or just doing a half-a-s job when writing up their small summary analysis on GF. I feel like all of them in that world - no one is really looking or paying attention to what is really going on…. Like no one is really watching and understanding…. They see a chip shortage and That compsny makes chips - so ok they will invest instead of doing their due diligence and deep research

Well - consider Tower Semi vs. GloFo comparison:

  1. 72.4% of Tower Semiconductor shares are owned by institutional investors. 1.0% of Tower Semiconductor shares are owned by insiders. Strong institutional ownership is an indication that large money managers, hedge funds and endowments believe a company will outperform the market over the long term.
  2. 0.2% of GloFo shares are owned by institutional investors.
  3. Imagine that - Mubadala puts all its majority shares for Sale, what happens to the share price?
