Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

I heard GM was on its way to bankruptcy again

I heard that GM superiority is completely smoke and mirrors. Can anybody from GM confirm?

Stock has dropped about 35% since the beginning of the year. That's kind of huge for two months.

You all keep talking about 200% bonuses, GM doing great, high margin sales from trucks and EVa BUT you keep forgetting that this has been possible thanks to LOW interest rates. Nobody has 90k in cash to buy trucks and expensive EVs. Once rates go up, we shall see if GM pays 200% bonuses.

Thank you! Now the 200% bonuses are making sense despite sales and production being down.

Biden has passed along oodles of our money to GM to cover the thousands upon thousands (possibly tens of thousands) of trucks sitting in MANY parking lots due to the chip shortage, and a great tax write-off for the EV commitment. In return and to keep money circulating into the economy, GM has given incredibly crazy high out of the norm bonuses along with agreeing to hire the niece of Biden in need of a job and yes, Hunter “Cr------d” Biden will be next in line for a top position or a future board member. AND when we buy a new vehicle we will pay twice as much. I’m with you!

Empty car lots, low car sales, a plant with laid off workers because someone can’t seem to get the battery issues worked out for the EV promise and >200% bonus does not equate, sorry. Not to mention the eventual backlash of all the surrounding businesses that used to reap the benefits of GM workers in a building versus being at home, such as, restaurants, daycares, clothing stores, oil change places, etc. If a person running a restaurant off Opdyke Rd. mainly of GM workers no longer services that community his/her business dies, and he/she does not have the money for a new car. Hence, a GM worker gets laid off or the company begins to hurt financially. Two years of GM money not circulating in Michigan because many are at home leaves a ho-e in the economy which circulates back to everyone spending less which comes back to a 200% bonus making no sense whatsoever.

I know a lot of people will have their feeling hurt but GM is actually doing pretty well. Paying out 200% bonus and hiring 8,000 in MIchigan...going light speed on EV/AV space, not to mention all the new contracts from GM defense. So yeah...you can dream about it but GM is doing pretty well actually. Sorry if you're butthurt...lol

Building everything cheaper at every possibility hurt repeat sales and consumer confidence eroding the brand and giving competitors an open invitation hurt GM? Really? Shocking
