Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

Everything has a price

Laying off a large number of employees was a huge mistake especially because there were many of the best and most loyal employees among those laid off. It’s sad to see Synamedia now paying the price for it.

The Finastra cabal has the same arrogance as Cisco in believing they understand cloud video, software technology, and markets where revenues derive from consumer spending.

It’s not really “a lot of employees”, though, is it?

Plenty of us would like to see some real cost reductions in engineering, which hasn’t managed to produce a successful new product for a very long time.
Engineering is where most of the cost is, in expensive regions and it simply isn’t paying its way. What do you think would be a sensible cut? 40%? 50%?

Imagine how profitable that would make us!

Synamedia is an adorned empty shell waiting for a su---r to buy it and find out they have been tricked. No need for quality employees for that, an empty shell has no substance.

What's a "loyal employee"? What does that even mean? People that won't leave because they know they can't get a job anywhere else?

are you really sure about "No matter how badly the business is doing, it is always wrong to lay off good-performing staff. "? What if there is no money left to pay them?

You’re right of course. No matter how badly the business is doing, it is always wrong to lay off good-performing staff.

Syna has no regard for employees, rather it has become a place for Execs to hire their old buddies from previous employers and focus more on their own comp packages. Products and employees are an afterthought.
There are other employers out there who will value you more than will Syna. Better to start looking before your position is eliminated.
