Is it true that if you don't get hired on in production engineering or reservoir engineering as a new graduate its very hard to get that role?

You will go thru the 2Y training program first. Yes, you can change positions after your first 2 years, some really regret it. Reservoir Eng is a brain trap, mostly spreadsheet work and a servant of planning and Reserve teams. Production engineer much better. Front there, all other eng positions are support
