Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

PIP ….comment if you are on a PIP this month?

PIPS INSTEAD! YOU GET A PIP! AND YOU GET A PIP! WE ALL GET PIPS!

Curious to know how many are in the same boat currently at Cisco.

Managers and Directors were given direction that a certain percentage of your staff should be "not meeting expectations".
It's bullsh-t and I hate it.

Jack Welsh didn't just bring us massive layoffs, he brought us the vitality curve, also known as rank-n-yank, where the bottom 10% are fired every year. His acolyte John Chambers, still worshiped here, did this at Cisco with a threshold of 5%. Back when he did that engineering schools were failing out 80% of the incoming freshmen by the end of their sophomore year. Reagan mutated the US from the world's largest creditor nation to the world's largest debtor nation over four years.

Since then we've been passed out on the floor of the debt bar deluded into thinking they world is wonderful. A few months ago I pointed out the total private and public sector debt in the US was $103.5T. Now it's almost $104.8T. Does anyone remember the video shown in high school of the crystal glass shattering when the fat lady sang? She's warming up again and our economy is the new crystal glass.

@ab Just came to know, two in our team on PIP, and they have been long timers with excellent ratings. One even has a CCIE.

What’s happening out there folks?

@ab There is nothing new about using a PIP to get rid of people. It is the same as it ever was.

Absolutely correct. PIP is same, only now Cisco is using it more frequently, and has become a defacto HR we-pon.

How many you know on PIP, or PIPed recently?

PIP is a new Cisco way to cut down on workforce. This is barbarism at the core. This is happening and real. Everyday we are hearing more and more of our colleagues from different teams put on PIP, even those with high ratings and CCIEs. No one is spared.

Cisco doesn’t reveal who is going through this mess, suddenly everything employee does is under a microscope. Management wants you gone. They are dealing with one employee at a time, and no one on PIP wants to reveal for feeling of helplessness and guilt.

Least we can do is acknowledge and provide support so those impacted don’t feel alone.

Comment and share if you’re under duress on PIP. FY Q4 earnings coming soon, and ELT is doing their best to dust off low hanging fruit in preparation for AI efficiency, similar to other companies.

There is a way to get out of PIP if we unite and bring this issue to the front. Those feeling that you’re safe, think again, until it’s your turn.
