Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Hope you have been saving your money!

Hmmmm let's see everyone gets an email today about new changes to the severance policy/plan effective June 1, 2021. Hmmm let's see no pension for people hired after Jan. 1, 2021. Hmmm all the LOCs are closing..... I wonder what is about to start happening over the next several years???? I'm sure Tipsy and the boys have our best interest at heart!

Just like when they changed the higher 10% pay scale in Dallas to the lower scale. About 3-4 months later is when they started announcing all the first round of office closures with a ton of people being moved to Dallas...that would move. Everyone and I mean everyone, they are going to burn it down first before they address the agency problem. Probably the only thing worse then our useless old white guy/gal agency workforce is the employees being hired to handle claims and issue policies/changes. Indemnity payments are going up too! Lapse can is also going up last week as daa Biden checks run out and dey cantz be paymening der payment. Saying it again, the growth is short lived, they are going to keep cutting so deep to squeeze every dime out and they are going to drop nutzzz on every employees to keep the expenses down. Good times!

Trolls chime in anytime...and a year from now we can see who was right and who was wrong!

You may still be missing the point. It was not my post but I understand what was trying to be communicated. Which is that there are expectations and accountability even at the management and executive levels. Fall short and you get asked to leave-but because of their increased age it is masked as “early retirement or seeking other avenues.” It is performance not trust or inclusion creating their departure.

Just goes to show. The very trust and inclusion they preach and swear to live up to is a joke even among themselves.

I don’t think the post was referring to you-unless you are an executive? Then let’s discuss your actions. Many people retire early because they got their financial house in order. But when an executive goes in their mid 50’s before the largest pay in their career occurs, someone is pushing.....you might want to reread the previous posts before you comment.

Who retired early is euphemism for getting laid off? Laughable! Some retire early cause they can afford to and were smart enough to do it. I retired early. My last TM tried to rub it in my face that I got less. I laughed at his ignorance. BEEN GONE FIR AWHILE NOW. NOT working and got more money than when I left.

@5k

from my experience Military folks are the biggest drama queens i seen, please dont take this the wrong way i do appreciate the service they provided but man the drama that flourished at a prior job when 90% of Employees and 100% of Managers were Military, i could not beleive the amount of drama and rumors and overall shittyness around it.

what i am trying to say is people are people regardless of background so just wishing Military background wont fix things , the person behind it has to be decent.

Quaterbacks may make more money and you may think they're smarter but without that line, that QB isn't worth a penny. You may think socialist but last time I checked there's a lot more of those linemen. Wanna take a vote? So really now, who's the socialist. The general isn't worth anything if he doesn't have soldiers. You are the epitome of poor leadership if you don't listen to your line or soldiers. You are destined to lose the game and the war. The folks are screaming for your support and you call back by how much smarter you are to them. Really! Who's the socialist? Don't play that game!

Got news for you-if you have ever worked in social services you recognize those behaviors ad nauseam. And politicians -they are the record holders for deviant behavior. And then of course you have the Catholic priests and church spending hundreds of millions on se-ual abuse cases. Afraid it is not contained to your corporations.....

OMG! Some people who work at State Farm have consensual relations? Some buy things on credit? Some drink or abuse prescription dr-gs? Some make more money than others?
Clearly OP needs to leave State Farm and go anywhere else…..because none of those things take place elsewhere.

3hze- wrong. Of course some people are better or more talented or hard-working than others, that’s why they tend to make more money. Why does the star quarterback make $40 million a year? Very simple, because he’s that good. Your socialistic tendencies and political leanings are very evident. And laughable.

Some of the highest paid have been let go or taken early retirement which is a euphemism for being laid off-one as recent as last week. And here comes a shocker-whether it is work, sports, or even religion there are some people with more talent. They get paid more. Once again you sound like a child.

@3klj+1b38UKEq If numbers drive the business, why doesn't some of the people getting paid much more than others don't get hit as hard as the others. If you compare it to a sport, remember it is "the team" not "the individual" who creates the numbers on the scoreboard. When you say participation award, it alludes to not carrying the weight of the team to produce the result. I beg your pardon! No, you or anyone for that matter is better than anyone else on the team. If anything, it is your responsibility to help your teammate. More of this...."All about me and I care less about you" attitude that leads to chaos as evidenced by the behaviors in the workplace today. NO ONE! NOT A SINGLE SOUL is better than anyone else. If you are a Christian, his greatest commandment was to love your God AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. Hurting your neighbor neighbor by laying them off, taking huge bonuses, and/or shooting in the work place is the ultimate act of selfishness and it is sinful. Funny, SF even uses the ethic....Like a good neighbor.

@2cei Didn't you know you're supposed to read the entire contract before you sign it? You should know what you are entitled to. It is up to YOUR AGENCY to build your book of business. Stop complaining!

Coming home to roost.....you can play the numbers all you want. You can pay anyone to say anything you want them to say. Is is worth it if the people who work for it don't believe in it?

What is exactly coming home to roost? Record production, exceptional growth, strongest financial position in history, one of the industry leaders in customer service according to 3rd party analysis. Looks like a lot of the previous decisions are driving some great performance. If you have been rooting for SF’s demise I can see why you are upset-just the opposite.

Don't you remember: "It's all about me! It's a business decision! Take care of yourself! Decisions are made behind closed doors. etc" To all of you who hurt your fellow associates.......the chickens are now coming home to roost. In retrospect, it's funny how things happen. If you think it's bad now, just wait till they turn on each other with no where to go. When the selfish finally scratch their head and ask: What the heck have we created? It's like a divorce. There are no winners and the outcome is financial ruin.

We are certainly NOT business owners, the only thing we own is the furniture (after the 10 year payment plan the company is kind enough to put us on with interest). There has never been an agent sell his book of business because the company owns it. We all agreed to service those clients in exchange for a small percentage of the premium. We do own all the liabilities of the agency however. Remember that when you spout off about how overpaid agents are. Come walk a mile in my shoes brother, I assure you it is not for everyone.

Yea, the last old white guys were hired in the late 70s. Then in the 80s you pretty much had to be female to get hired after that discrimination lawsuit. In the 90s came the major push for diversity, how many white guys got hired then? Now, they will hire anybody with a pulse and some money in the bank to try to tackle the A05
contract. Try and keep up with the times snowflake. Think I’m kidding? Go to the agent search tool type in any ZIP Code and take a look at the mix of agents.

@1hws+1b38UKEq When they put their faults on others including me, I will always speak the truth. That's a typical manager attitude. OK for me BUT not for you. That will not work with the ids today. They see right through that stuff real fast!

@1cbd. Brown nosing not. Fact! Just look around you at the people who couldn't live an ethical life. Criminal records, driving under the influence multiple times, divorce, infidelity, substance abuse, and so on. Seen it! If I owned a company that had those ethics while controlling the company checkbook, I would like SF clean house. 30 plus years ago it would not be tolerated to the extent it is today. I can see a mistake now and then but I wouldn't tolerate it as rampant as it is today especially in the LOCs. I believe SF should be much better than that even if it takes laying off. What built SF isn't there today and we owe the young ones the truth without the hypocrisy.

You're absolutely right! The last office I was in i overhead an old divorcee get up in the middle of the isle and brag how she/he had maxed out their credit card bill of 15K. WTH! Conservatively speaking, I would say 75% of front line workers and management lives paycheck to paycheck because they live way beyond their means. I'd love to know their credit scores. They can dance all they want but eventually they have to pay the band. Those who have lived within their means without divorce, self medicating etc will be just fine. The others will live the life they have come to deserve. On this basis, I give SF a thumbs up for cleaning house.

Don’t know when the last time you looked was, but there are not that many old white guy agents left out there. Mostly young starving agents on the A05 contract. The company knows these guys are a bargain.

Ahhh, there you guys are, all ready for the circle jerk. What a bunch of smarmy, feckless losers, sitting around all day folding perfect double layer tin foil hats ( because you know, one layer might not be enough) worrying about when your pathetic world might come to an end and overly concerned about everyone’s financial position. Word of advice snowflake, MAN UP! Life is easier when you believe in yourself and have the self confidence to win in any situation. FYI, it is completely possible to control or at least direct your destiny. Or you can always wait in line for your participation medal.

I could care less what they do. As far as I'm concerned they can play with themselves in the corner while rolling in their money. I've seen it over and over so far in my lifetime that every company that messes on its employees will pay a heavy price in some form or another no matter how big they are. Most of the people left in proximity and the LOCs are milking it, overpaid, and dead weight anyway. Especially management.

So OP seems to think the problem is…..all the functions that actually interact with customers. Agency and Claims. I’m sure if we would stop having any interaction with those pesky paying customers, and just focus on all the people sequestered in their cubicles, this company would totally rock it!

Less driving during the pandemic, kept claims down. However, climate change, solar activity (grand solar minimum) is expected to increase damage on the property side during the next 10 years. IMHO.
