Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

WFH is a safety issue other than Covid as well.............

I have lived in Houston and surrounding areas since 1980 and I have never seen so much crime In Houston as there is these days. If you watch the news there is a road rage shooting almost daily, and even around the Greenway office there has been more and more shootings in the Montrose area. Just the other day there were two people shot sitting in a car on Kirby in front of a high-end apartment complex in River Oaks. I don't miss that daily drive to Greenway as I had to go through many parts of Houston just to get there. Anyone that drives in Houston traffic is bound to make a mistake here and there, and to be shot over a mistake is ridiculous. I think this pandemic has added to people just losing it, but something has to change and soon.

Houston is one giant S ho-e. Entire city should be burned down like the dumpster fire it is.

You are right. I would quit when Oxy calls you back to the office 4 days a week starting in March.

@2bdg+1eUcq8FW What are you saying now. One dead peace officer earlier in the week and three more shot today in Houston. I wish I was wrong because Houston is a great city, but you are taking a chance working or living in Houston these days. Houston has 38 mu---rs this month and New York and Chicago are in the twenties. It is just terrible society has come to this.

OP, you have been awarded first place for the most ridiculous reason for work from home. Come pick up your prize in the main office Monday morning.

Sounds like Oxy and it’s employees are located around like minded people. You should fit straight in to the unethical, arrogant and putrid environment you describe.

You could learn to drive instead of just turning the wheel and hoping other people will move out of your way.
