Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Remember when Bill bought a bunch of shares to show the confidence he had in the company?

How'd that work for him?

Down to $9.75/share.

Lots of Ford employees that were paper millionaires no longer are!

Remember rule #1, never invest in the company you're employed by!!

NGL, makes me laugh when I think of all the HTHD Model e new hires we gave stock options to. How's that compensation package looking now?

How many Ford employees do you know that are no longer paper millionaires because the stock is at $10?
Right, that's what I thought.

I won't touch Ford stock before it hits $1.90 along with a promise to once again focus on products, customers, and employees.

@1ocg+1tR38uZK here ya go:

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/ford/2021/12/08/bill-ford-purchases-nearly-2-million-shares-ford-common-stock/6439310001/

"Ford Motor Co. Executive Chair Bill Ford this week exercised stock options to buy nearly 2 million shares of the automaker's common stock for approximately $20.5 million, a move the company characterized as a signal of his belief in where the business is headed."

He also knew that they'd be laying off a bunch of people in SE Michigan over the next 2-3 years. He should be investigated for insider trading.

Mark Fields saw the genius of Alan Mulally, and did his level best to keep up what Mulally instituted. He emulated Mulally. His biggest fault was that he was replacing a legend. People disliked him just for that reason.

Regardless, Bill's "I'm buying stock, that's how much I believe in what we're doing!" magnanimous show was ill-fated.

Of course, when you're worth a billion dollars you can get away with bad decisions like this.

@czt+1tR38uZK I was not impressed with Mark Fields, and he was nothing compared with AM. However, compared with his successors (Hatchet and Fartley), MF is a fricking genius!

When Hatchet makes his autobiography, the Ford chapter will be something like this...
BF : Hatchet! What's your sole purpose in this company?
Hatchet : To do whatever you tell me, Bill Ford!
BF: God damn it, Hatchet! You're a god damn genius! This is the most outstanding answer I have ever heard. You must have a godda-n I.Q. of 160. You are godda-n gifted, CEO Hatchet. Listen up, people...

Now for some reason I fit at Ford like one of them round pegs. It's not really hard. You just make your bed real neat and remember to stand up straight and always answer every question with "Yes, Bill Ford!"

BF : ...Is that clear?
Hatchet and BoD : Yes, Bill Ford!

It amazing that some people on this site are remembering Mark Fields (aka: The Execumullet) fondly. That guy was as big of a poser as the last two id--ts.

AM was the last good leader that Ford had and BF forced him out. What a shame.

It gives me some solace that the 182,000 shares Doug Field paid $2 million for are now worth only $1.76 million. Thankfully, I bailed out of Ford stock when it hit $25.
