It won't make sense until it's over. TIAA is a dying company, it may take some time for that final nail in the coffin but rest assured it's dying. The general account will be merged with a stronger, smarter company, Nuveen will be sold or merged with another asset manager. Wealth Management accounts will get sold to Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, Fidelity or like USAA wealth management, bought by Schwab. Meanwhile, Thasunda will keep spinning a fanciful narrative and handing out coloring books and of course collecting her $18 million a year.
