Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Quality matters, or does it?

As a TAM employee I have to wonder when the MRC will sniff out the horrible quality standards being broken by employees and Nielsen’s new way of working for PRS’. In the past, it was a requirement to keep overdue work items at an absolute minimum, and due to our “new” “smart” way of working, and “trusting the process”, there are hundreds, if not thousands of work items unaddressed or overdue. Persons flags, which correlate to our panelists interacting with their meters to accurately depict their viewing, our quarterly interim updates (which verify the basic demographic and household’s information) and one step further, our new “quality review” which is an interim but on steroids, and technical verifications are done on each of a panelists television sets. The quality reviews have always been done in person to confirm the information and technical aspect of the meters and TVs in the home, but brilliant management has pushed these onto PRS’ now. The amount of quality issues this poses shows Nielsen’s ineptitude to maintain quality assurances for our clients sake. How is it ethical for us to report to our clients that information is being maintained and collected accurately when the amount of overdue work items has exponentially increased since being forced to work from a “priority scoring” model? The TAM panel managers are lacking in the ability to manage their teams and actual intelligence of what the role entails since the scoring and new work methods have been implemented. It is infuriating to say the very least. And don’t even get me started on the lack of understanding or management of our TCS employees that are now overpowering the PRS’ who have been with Nielsen for years. This place is a sh-t show and no one seems to care whatsoever. The pay rate is minuscule, the team morale is minuscule and the amount of care or give a damn left for US based employees is even more minuscule.

So what would happen if a former field rep were to come out and say what really goes on behind the scenes at Nielsen? Also, I was thinking of releasing the names of current panelists. Any thoughts?

All Nielsen data is now cr-p. Quality control is not important when the mighty dollar is at stake. From a former employee who was involved in operations and data science meeting I can tell you that respondent results are being “adjusted” to reach the desired results.

Schedule a meeting with the MRC then and voice your concerns and observations. They’re actually really nice people that want to hear our stories of data and process quality gaps.

Already reached out and had a very productive meeting with leaders of the MRC including George Ivie, Anthony Torrieri and a few others. Had open and honest conversations that they truly appreciated, and discussed things I’m sure Nielsen is not disclosing to them.

The only way Nielsen will be held accountable is if we talk … plain and simple. The more people talking and providing evidence of wrongdoings, the more Nielsen will have to scramble.

To be fair, the TAM panel managers have way too much on their plate to effectively manage their teams. It’s impossible to do well with they are tasked with. It’s setting them and the company up for failure.

Data is sh-t, it has been for a while and it will only get worse.

Panels are dead and Nielsen is only trying to linger on it's past success. The industry should react, you can help by reporting this everywhere you can!

I think the question here really is - how is it ethical for you to NOT report this to the MRC? Especially since your days are surely numbered while you break your back for pennies on the dollar?
