It is unbelievable how many open positions are there on Ford careers website and many of them even open for visa sponsorship. On top of that several companies are contacting on W2 positions at Ford. Pretty sure at least half of the laid off folks can find a potential matching opening at Ford.

what is a point in taking a job knowing one will be cut in a year or so!!
The only time I would apply for Ford is if I am unemployed or I know for fact I will be cut 100%.

Ford can’t find anyone because their reputation is known as a company that treats their long term hard working employees like dirt.
It probably doesn't matter since it was likely a fake job posting and the recruiter was just going though the motions. Or they were looking for someone that would fly though the air with a cape, and PAY Ford for the privilege to work there.
I was let go from Ford in May 2019 and have moved on (obviously). I was contacted by a recruiter earlier this year for a 'great opportunity' at Ford. (It was a 313 area code and I stupidly picked up the phone.) The recruiter refused to take no for an answer as I knew what a dumpster fire Ford was at the time and still is. I ignored his calls for the next week.

Ford's hiring priority: 1) diversity hire; 2) mexico; 3) india
I only apply for jobs at ford for my unemployment benefits. No possibility of getting hired.

The paperwork I got said that they won’t hire you back into another area no matter if you sign the paper or not.
Laid off folks are not eligible to apply of they signed the agreement and took the severance and health care coverage.
Ford is a joke. Who'd want to go back? Another layoff of coming.
All I can say is in my space no one was layed off and I am busily hiring as fast as I can. The difficulty is finding qualified candidates. Most have multiple competing offers. Not sure if in other areas this not the same but none of my over 30 postings are for labor certificates in fact visa sponsorship is not available for any of them. I know people are upset about the layoffs and I am sure that in some areas re-training would have been a good idea but that does not mean the postings are fake.
@ooc Companies are required to post jobs if they are filing for Permanent Labor Certification with DOL. These job postings are a requirement and are not for hiring. But Permanent Labor Certifications cannot be filed after a layoff.
I am working with a contract company for a job posted at Ford and they sent my resume about two months ago. The contract company will contact the hiring manager, however they get nothing but silence on ALL of the candidates. Just because a company posts "jobs" doesn't mean they are hiring. Even the contract company told me a lot of job postings are just BS.
This is consistent with what many other companies do to check a box about trying to find local skilled resources. Next step is to directly recruit H1B visa holders or get them through contract companies.
That has been happening since August 2022. Ford been posting salaried positions and contract agencies been doing the same. Yet Ford laying off people by the thousands. And the funny part some of the posting say there looking for people with skills only learned at Ford. And there forbidding the former laid off people to come back, depending on who you talk to. I have spoken with agencies that did get former Ford salaried people into a contract job at Ford in the last few months.
