I still can’t believe I dodged the bullet. I just started looking for another job, and I need more time. It’s not the best of times to search for a job, let alone applying as a free-range agent. I’m hearing people have a hard time finding jobs after they were previously let go from Cisco. If anyone has a positive experience to share, please make my weekend even better!

Companies are only hiring immigrants. If you don't have work permit from Harris you ain't getting the job.
@1zga next they will fire Algerians and hire Mongolians.
Yes. Jobs can be hard to find now. I have seen the same reqs at some big companies being posted for months with lots of applicants and yet they remain open. Makes me wonder if many of the posted jobs are even real.
This place valued you little before, and they do even less now. Remember that when you are thankful to be here, doing your job well, then get a performance bonus that is in the dirt.
Has anyone negotiated their severance?
Software engineering will be all done offshore. I know companies that already offshored Indian development to Pakistan. Now, they are firing the Pakistani developers to hire Algerians.
Pick a career that requires soft skills and requires face-to-face.
You OP will be here till you are let go. You have no fu---n skills to land a job
The tides have turned and suddenly software dev folks are having the toughest time (I'm a dev, not LRd for now)
Some people in software dev will just be leaving the industry. We have excess supply and it is getting worse every day with new grads, more laid off job seekers, and international talent. All of us doing approximately the same thing and getting more interchangeable as tech stacks normalize.
If you can go on autopilot at Cisco and let some of the carnage sort itself out, you should
It's honestly a waste of time to ponder how hard (or easy) it is to get a job after Cisco, as this is highly dependent on you, your role, and your network. I had a verbal offer two hours after being LR'd from Cisco (I'm in sales). The offer was from a partner. I sent a simple text to a VP there...he called two hours later and gave me the OTE, benefits, we discussed start dates, etc. Then they created a req, pushed paper, etc. to get through the formal HR process. I had other offers come in fairly quickly as well-I didn't have to take a pay cut, but instead ended up with a pay increase.
Partners (and other companies) have LR's too, but it's not nearly as bad as Cisco.
Saw the writings on the wall, and had been job searching. And finally got a job offer while being LR’ed. Pushed the start date a bit further so I can milk as much as I can from Cisco.
