I recently retired April 1 after almost 34 years in claims. Not 1 management or HR person asked why I was leaving as only 57 years old, The retirement process was a complete disaster with no-one ever has given me any real numbers as to what my retirement amount was. I was given an amount when I initiated retirement on 1/6/2022 and when I retired on 4/1/22 the amount was less. I called the Benefits people to ask why and they of course stated computers are down and been waiting 2 days for return call. When you retire everyone tells you to go online to complete the process, Then when you have a question they can not answer. The entire process is a cluster to say the least. But I can say one thing in claims that I was in is more f'ed up that any thing you can imagine. The TM'S are so out of reality and work / like balance in a " COMPETE JOKE" Soon they will learn this is not the Farm we used to work for and Mr. Rust would be embarrassed to be part of Tip's way of running the Farm, I feel bad this is the way I went out but should I ? FYI I was hired by another company day 1 making same money with less stress involved and " Loving It " No more stress or BS

The first 5 to 10 years I worked for SF, I had a second job they never knew about and signed the conflict of interest/code of conduct with clear conscience. My work and life outside of the Farm was none of their business. I was able to retire comfortably at 57 even though they thought I couldn't. Always keep an ace in your back pocket in your travels. Use your ears and your brain not group think.
@2lzs. You are right. Don't think they live in such a perfect world. Little folks have little issues to manage. They have "big issues" believe me. Morality does not come with titles. Proper upbringing and ethics do.
Managers, Directors and level 4 BAs and Systems folks all stay as long as they can. Big pay. Big salary increases. Seasoned east job and easy money folks. CEO is another example
They live in a bubble. But want the world to see all the "good deeds" they do for society and community.
Normal foks don't have this luxury. Big show
I retired at age 55 in 2018. My quality of life has improved dramatically and I have no doubt I added years if not decades to my life expectancy. Of course, I had maneuvered myself and my family into a position to make that possible. If you keep buying new cars, extravagant vacations, and increasing credit card debt… may as well get a pre-need contract with Calvert & Metzler to make things a little easier on your family. If they still care about you because you come home from work in a bad mood and kick the dog when you walk in the door every evening with your laptop to do more wfh.
Congrats! Each person has to pick best timing for them. Staying for money is not worth the stress. I think you’ll really enjoy the healthy power of putting yourself and your family first. There are other opportunities out there and life is short. Enjoy, thrive and good luck.

@1zac-you are 100% wrong. Pension maxes at a combination of 35 years of service and 62 years of age. Every year of service and age less than 35 and 62 reduces the pension significantly. Designed to incentivize staying. Similar to social security. You will definitely need some guidance when you approach that age….

If you do the math you jack... the break even point of retiring at 57 vs. 62 is 69.5 years old and if you don't have your sh.. together by then you are a loser such as yourself. @1npq. You're exactly like the jacka-- I worked for. Same comment when I got out at 57 for same reasons. I actually got 5 more years of my life which their money can't buy plus never went through multiple divorces plus don't have to pay child support plus get two more pensions plus two more social securities plus my 401K and medical. That's how ignorant they are. I'm actually retired with more money than mgmt. What sucks nowadays is they took spouses medical. The chickens are coming home to roost with the all about me lifestyles and the 5000.00 purses. Always play your cards conservatively. Let them think they have you by the b-lls.
@1npq There's no guarantee that anyone will make it to full retirement age if they're not already there. OP was smart to get out when they had the opportunity and live a less stressful life right now. I've known several retirees that retired and within a few years they passed away. Life is too short to stay in a miserable situtation when there's opportunties for something better.
Every area is a disaster. Third parties took over most and the systems and processes and agendas are bad. HR and Compliance stink. Service Now stinks. Yeah. Calling and getting real numbers and answers on the pension stuff is bad.
Lotsa folks getting promoted and bid raises and bonuses for implementing the structure and mess.
Kinda sick. Hard to watch all the folks I. Leadership and systems pat themselves on the back

@1npq, maybe the OP wanted to lock in the health care benefits, and he/she is in the financial position to take early retirement. Perhaps the OP is working in the "bonus round" of his/her career. Everyone's financial situation is different.
What company did you go to ? What section were you in ?
