If Oxy would just get rid of the low performers that would be a step in the right direction. They just let them hang on for some reason and it brings the whole company down. I know people they do the bare minimum and do that not well, but they get a check and benefit just like the people who actually work. It happens in all age groups across the board, and they need to cut them and replace them with good workers.

Maybe should have been….
An outsourcing company does not work projects the Oxy way which is to do just enough to make a business decision and not overwork the problem.

Don’t worry. Oxy tried this outsourcing in the past in multiple ways. Outsourcing was found to be ineffective and very expensive in the long run. You see whether outside company other just doesnt know how to work the project the Oxy way which is to do just enough to make the business decision and not work the problem to the 19th decimal point.

I am more worried about Oxy trying to follow the majors and ship jobs to India and also use more of the managed services (outsourcing). It seems a lot of companies the size of Oxy are a little behind the majors when it comes to things like sending jobs overseas and using the managed services model, but in the end always want to try and do the same.

@8llj+1vmZXTKm, I’m retired. But I’ll take a bonus, no matter how much, if you’re offering.

The earnings report is this week so any lay-off news would be after that. Hopefully there are no workforce reductions.

@1ytl+1vmZXTKm The plan looks to have been updated 9/1/2024. Not sure if that means anything, but it is good to know and see what is offered. At least Oxy does have something in place.

Of course Oxy HR is watching this page. The have gotten most of the unfavorable posts and posts that VH and management are incompetant deleted. I know for a fact that they also post the favorable this is a great place propaganda. Most people can spot a herring when they see stuff like that. If people really loved it at Oxy, why would they delete employee opinions and make fake posts?

Plenty of people rejected from real companies we can replace. When you're the bottom feeder company, everything is an upgrade.

Interesting... My post from last night was deleted...Is big brother Oxy watching this site? Guess my comments hit a little too close to home.

Carbon capture should be something to play around with but should not be a main focus of business.

The financial news suggests that cost cutting is in the plans. Synergies, layoffs and restructuring are likely ways to accomplish cost cutting. So don’t be so sure layoffs aren’t in the cards. Keep your eyes open for recent updates to the severance policy documents. This may indicate VSP or layoffs are coming.

I don't think we will layoff or stop the hybrid schedule.

There will be a lot of talent on the streets. Oxy could trade up by laying off and hiring from the street. This likely will not happen because it is expensive, not the right way to treat people, and demoralizes the workforce.

We are so bare bones as it is I don’t see how oxy can lay anyone off.
