Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Layoffs will never stop

That's the easiest way to cut costs and it's been the crutch of this leadership for years. Don't expect to see that change any time soon. Unless a miracle happens and the entire ELT is replaced with competent people who know what they're doing. I'm not holding my breath to see that happen, though.

Good posts here. Layoffs to rebalance resources are a good thing. Layoffs reacting to poor performance stink. VSP was offered when VZ was financially, competitively, and organizational in a position of strength. Now we've got the C Suite coming out weekly to reassure the scarred workforce (and maybe themselves) that we've got a Strategy that can turn it around and to just hang in there. As much as we all want there to be a BOX of will all be involuntary from here on out.

Hey guys. layoffs are a net benefit because they're what enables rebalancing departments in a competitive environment. The problem with Verizon's layoffs becomes apparent when they are reactive for budgetary reasons. This isn't changing direction due to a product/process becoming obsolete it's min/maxing for budgetary weakness. Too many cost overruns, too much stagnation, too much bloat, and not enough ideas. I hope they lay me off I could use a paid December off.

Yeah, we know and we agree, we'd love to have a VSP offer now. Some of us are completely over this place after DECADES of loyal service. The problem is, the so called leadership team grossly underestimated the number of employees that took them up on those VSP offers and there were groups of employees in the company that they wouldn't even extend those offers to when company performance was better at that time so they would probably end up being comatose to see how many would actually take them up on such an offer today with our company's performance the worst in its history and the vast majority of employees having ZERO confidence in this current so called leadership team. Company performance is not going to improve without turnover at the very top. Hans and every leader that is shoveling his propaganda down-stream all need to go. They have all dug into this losing path they have put us on and they have zero intensions of making business changes that is going to turn things around from a performance perspective.
