Nat’l Employee Appreciation Day

Meant to make this a post instead of a reply. I wonder what we did for our employees on Nat’l Employee Appreciation Day. Wait-we decided to let go another 250 in SIBG this week with some being told today. Pathetic https://www.nationaldaycalendar.com/national-day/national-employee-appreciation-day-first-friday-in-march

"Typically it's age, time w/ the company, JG, etc."

Isn't using age for employment decisions in the US kind of illegal?

This shouldn't be a surprise to any of us. What I'm wondering is - what is the process used by management to decide who goes and who stays. Typically it's age, time w/ the company, JG, etc., but is there any thought to the work that will no longer be done. Meaning, thought to how it is impacting the business. Not all work gets passed on to others. So who determines that impact to the company?
