When will these techs be targeted? I have never seen this position involuntarily surplused.

The number of CO’s are going to decrease drastically in the next few years.
Almost every year in the West for the last 10 years. Only thing that saves people that want to stay is that the Title has so many old salty dogs that usually leave and save lower seniority COT’s.

This course will discuss all aspects for an inside technician going into the field. All aspects of safety, basic install order process, basic repair process, test equipment, and smart chat for inside tech starting to go into the field.
Traditional CO techs are endangered species, analogous to the field wire tech. Most CO’s nowadays run autonomous, don’t require a person being physically on the building. CO techs have to evolve and become Data techs (packets, ethernet, etc). Heck, even the data networks engineer is in danger thanks to SDN. Become a Programmer my friends....
Question. Was on a call and one of the CO folks mentioned they had lost so many customers they were having to rebalance their offices. Just a comment that came up while discussing another issue. Anyone have any idea what they were talking?

Central office COT’s in MW targeted since 2012 and expect more this round.
Legacy T Comm Techs? Or the old Ameritech area Comm techs, but they were upgraded to cot or css. Not sure what part of the company your referring to?
