Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Bad Supervisor that don't give a sh-t bout you or your career

Worked in Exxonmobil for 7 years and went through 8 different supervisor. Only had pleasant experience with 1 out of the 8 supervisor I worked with that genuinely care about your career.

Finally left the company and submitted exit clearance form in early July. Had not received my last pay in July because the incompetent fool forgotten to approve my clearance form.

End of Rant

P.S: To those leaving Exxonmobil, make sure you remind your soon to be ex-supervisor to approve the clearance form

The song that your supervisor sings about a teamwork or you are a good asset to the company is not true. I think where the song is applied beyond a cynical level is at the Permian Basin area.

You are in charge of your own career. The company does not care about you beyond what you bring to the bottom line.

Adapt or leave

NEVER stop looking for the next job.

Good luck.

@1vii Did you even read the post you replied to? Doesn’t seem like something that an HR department would put on the internet to me.

“Bad Supervisor that don't give a sh-t bout you or your career”

Nobody anywhere gives a sh^t about you or your career. It’s been that way since careers became a thing. There was never any magical time that management acted in the best interests of labor.

The reason why supervisors get away with not caring is because there is a shared assumption within management that management knows nothing. Not having qualified staff is a reasonable excuse to their higher ups. I expect no supervisor has been asked "why are people leaving your team?" "why don't you have qualified staff?" "how am I supposed to explain my organization is falling apart?"

Oh they'll get those questions sooner than later.

Same. Only 1 out of 10 supervisors was any good. Most were clueless and 1 was a toxic oily douchbag.

Yep, I should have left sooner because rising interest rates hit my lump sum.
Not worth staying because this place is so damaging to mental health.

Had the same problem.

Because of this delay, my pension lump sum came 1 month later, costing me a 5 figure number due to raising interest rate.

Supervisors are not only give a $h1tt about your career but also about you as an individual.

Furthermore, they are oblivious to the wake of destruction and stress they leave behind with no accountability.
