Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

It is unfortunate that the PA's who worked hard to rise to the RA levels are being left to wither on the vine. However, there is a life lesson here. The days of working for companies like the Farm for your whole career ended 20+ years ago. To be truly marketable, you need to get broader industry context and experience. SFB was never destined for greatness and did not cultivate you for success in the real world. Insurance designations are like toilet paper outside an archaic monstrosity like SF.

You'll need to dig deep to find those opportunities. And, hopefully you have networked in circles beyond the brown-nosed 'yesmen' at SF.

You should have jumped ship in the first round of layoffs. Everyone knew this day was coming.

Don’t worry most of the org will be out a job in the next 10 years. SF is still betting on their agents and they are loosing big time.

@1wyq....Don’t think you realize you actually illustrated 8 track guy’s point. Those same companies are still huge because they completely changed what they do. State Farm is trying to do just that. Also, 8 tracks and cassettes were two different media.

BS. Since 2017, there has been c-ap for leadership in bank. And it was pretty thin at that time.

SF is providing jobs though, just not to analysts. When the announcement went out, they came out and said any PA level associates are promised a job after bank closes. So someone who started work and was hired on a permanent employee 6 months ago is promised a position. Any analyst who has put in hard work to get promoted out of the PA level are not given that same opportunity. That is what burns is they didn't offer for any analyst to have the option of being promised a position at a lower pay scale but that they would have to fight for one of the few open positions available. I know many analysts would have rather taken a lower salary position if it were offered to know they would have a job after all this.

8 Track cassette guy - the people that made the are still the same major media makers today. They didn’t just leave their employees behind. If you know that much about 8 tracks, I hope you are enjoying your pension on the beach while the bankanalysts fund it.

8 track tapes. Laughable! Pretty soon it's going to be disposable insurance. Amazing how many of the old muscle cars are in high demand at high cost vs the throw away cars. Same principle! Some pencil pushers only think about ME NOW. The 8 track built the company. Tech is disposable....people aren't. Quality will always win over disposable unless you think insurance is toilet paper. LOL just saying.

Just think about the opening. You state there are no jobs in the industry, then lament that State Farm is providing no jobs in the industry. Yes, there are employees out of a job. But not because State Farm is mistreating them. There is major systemic change happening and State Farm can be part of it or perish.
Sometimes it doesn’t matter how well you perform a task, if there is no demand for having that task performed. Who makes the very best quality 8-track tapes, and how well are they doing?

Senior leadership is doing a great job with the Covid response. The bank was not doing well so they closed it. There are unfortunately not need for bank analysts and bank leadership with no bank. It’s sad but reality. Leadership is doing a great job however!
