Mgrs assigning more more work everyday

Been here over two years without a raise, refresh, or promo but constantly more and more responsibility with Sr folks leaving the team regularly.
I have no motivation to work harder for 0 reward and my boss said more responsibilities are coming this year. If i just coast and redirect duties can i just fly by doing my work without getting fired?

This is the way to do it. They made my entire performance review about how I make more money than I deserve, and said they are gonna start holding me to “all new standards”….ok me too….interviews with Palo Alto this week and zScaler next week. Palo is talking about $200k to start.,.granted that’s a sales role, commissions paid at first then 60/40 then 50/50…they are known for high unreachable
Sales goals but I’ll walk away with 4 cloud certs and a fu-knton of money, very employable.

They made my IPF 95% because “you make too much money and I needed somewhere to get money for other people”

I make 103k….fu-k them, now I work maybe 6 hours a day and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. This is a new age of employment. Like @1ylk+1j3hx6uR said, they no longer properly compensate for what they need to pull us out of this mess. So don’t ki-l your self over it.

Unfortunately you have painted yourself into a corner in this situation. By the sound of things you are the designated whipping boy for your group and most likely you're doing the bulk of the work while your coworkers are on easy street just cashing them checks. If you stand up for yourself now your boss may very well slap you with a PIP and set you up for the fall. People get VERY upset when the whipping boy finally grows a backbone and decides he won't get pushed around anymore.

Your choices are to continue to be the whipping boy or make a stand which will ultimately lead to your fall. Neither of those bode well for you.

It's not all bad news though. First you can use this experience as one of the most valuable life lessons that they'll never teach you in college. For whatever reason, your manager smelled weakness on you shortly after you joined the group which ultimately led to your predicament. Do some introspection and course correct before your next job so this doesn't happen to you again.

Plus there is no reason you can't coast, even if it leads to your ultimate demise in the company. What's the worst thing they can do, give you a PIP? Big deal, then you just stop doing anything and cash checks while they go through the bureaucratic process and red tape before they can fire you.

My personal advice so you never have to experience this again: go through life with an abundance mentality, it makes everything so easy! There's always more jobs, more investment opportunities, plenty of fish in the sea know what I'm sayin'?

Do you have any idea how many of my old coworkers, all of whom were aging prematurely and had health problems, spent their days walking around in perpetual PTSD with the blank, thousand-yard stare? Always muttering about not being appreciated this, this company would go down in flames without me that, blah blah blah. Yet every time some director or VP would descend from their ivory tower to mingle with us plebes they would tuck their tails firmly between their cheeks and shamelessly start licking that boot. Real tuff guyz.

You prop these people up to be gods and they'll revel in the opportunity to lord over you. I would show up at the office for four hour workdays, play sudoku, and log onto this website with my company laptop. Nobody ever said anything to me. They knew I didn't care so they didn't have any power over me.

I'm telling you man, if you genuinely walk through life with that abundance mindset nobody can touch you. Unlike my coworkers there are no stress lines here...in fact I'm still so pretty after all these years I shoulda been born a girl LOL!

Years ago it was very, very different.

G8/9 grunts like me were hired by dozens in early 2000s. TAC crud. Long hours. But had good stock options. Options made all the difference. Several consecutive +$200k income years. Even IRS audited one year. Maxed out Roths and 401k and aggressively traded BrokerageLink, especially at the market bottom in 2008/9 window.

Was mostly a TAC grunt while there, but Cisco made me very wealthy. I earned every penny. Not sure I would do it again. Definitely would not have done it without the stock options.

Can remember two occasions where our VP called directly after CAP case and gave 2,000 stock options, each occasion, for helping retain big customer threatening to leave.

That's how people back in 2000s can retire in their early 50s, that plus the LR early retirement. Basically a year salary and all options vested, in exchange to leave.

Sorry you younger folks missed those days. They ruined a good thing.

Inner circle employees delegate work to the grunt workers. If you are a disposable grunt worker you are expected to take more responsibilities without a raise or stock refreshers.

The good ol' boys club receives the great work life balance with annual stock refreshers.
