I am in surgical robotics and can’t decide if our group is safe or not. We are for sure not profitable right now…
Is the surgical robotics unit affected?
They have engineering team in London.
sector leaders? MDT doesn't use this title...where are you getting this from?
Here is what I overheard north of the border: 8 sector leaders today => 2 sector leaders tomorrow.
Reshuffle and layoff of middle management
exactly. Directors and VPs are getting axed so im not sure who these arrogant middle managers are that think they are safe lol
No one can guarantee safety. It’s irresponsible of leaders to tell teams that they’re safe until the RIF is over.
Re ‘Can you clarify what this means? "It’s all based on numbers and not performance." What numbers? Thanks.’ Decisions are being made based on cost and salaries. It’s all about cost saving. Performance is not necessarily being considered. High performers with strong performance reviews are being let go in addition to poor performers.
@1wqu+1m0DpBCj glad your whole team is safe! I am sure it's a great relief knowing.
I hope the person that posted that supervisors don’t know who is getting laid off and that HR is handling it all is right. According to mine we are all safe.
BU’s don’t exist anymore. They’re called OUs.
Neuromodulation contractor here. I was told my contract is ending early now before the FY ending in April.
Can you clarify what this means? "It’s all based on numbers and not performance." What numbers? Thanks.
Group meeting that is normally scheduled at the end of the month was moved to the April 17. Technical pool that spans several projects and business functions.
From what I’ve heard, HR schedules a meeting on your calendar. Managers are not involved. Often, managers and directors don’t find out about their employees getting let go until right before that HR meeting is scheduled. And from what I’ve heard, unlike previous RIFs, this time Managers and Directors aren’t getting a say about who on their teams get let go. It’s all based on numbers and not performance.
Does your direct manager set up a meeting to inform you of being laid off? Are directors doing it? Do they ask to meet with you at the last minute?
Neuromodulation/Pelvic Health did a small layoff about a month ago. Only a few people (one here and two there type of numbers), but nothing to the magnitude of what's anticipated/expected in a couple weeks. Will update as that time approaches.
