Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Phases

I'm hearing there is more phases to come. That this was just phases 1. What are the rest of the phases? What is phase 2 going to bring and when? This is awful.

Sam's already does all of this. No more departments. If you work on the floor you are classified as a merchandiser and can be asked to go work any department. Jewelry dept is also part of the merchandisers responsibility plus all the daily price changes and the constantly changing layouts. Teamleads as they are called also carry keys to the building and open they club at 4am for the morning merchandisers and they stay over for the closing merchandisers. The nightcrew was disassembled about 2 years ago. Lately they have actually been giving out raises and we hear more is to come until everyone is at least making 15 an hour and im sure there will be mgmt cuts to pay for these raises.

Stocking checkouts, price changes and modulars are now assigned to the food/consumable team. Cashiers you have now dodged a huge bullet. Hope it doesn't change , it is time consuming enough dealing with some of the customers

@2spj+17BcLOKI, customers are already doing that! They just use their phones to place their order and their order is delivered to their home - no store needed! With all the free time customers will now have, they can drop by to a local store and "help out" by unpacking and re-stocking shelves, just to k–l time.

@1wpm When will they have time to do this? Usually there are only 2 POS open at any given time (not including self-checkout) and there are constant lines for them.

Eventually customers will scan all purchase, unload trucks, and stock shelves as they do their shopping .

Cashiers will be responsible for stocking the candy, snacks etc. around their register. Also, the will have to set the modulars for dept. 82.

Once the team leads are in place the next phase begins. It will affect every associate in the store. Every salesfloor associate will be placed on teams and will be responsible for stocking, price changes, top stock etc. Teams will work together to complete each aspect of the job. Schedules will also change for each person.
