Attrition at all time high?

From what I'm seeing in organizations around me the attrition seems to be at an all-time high here at GF. The HR puppet can try to massage the numbers previously and use some four-year average which was the best data she could find but I'm betting the attrition that I'm seeing is 15-20% yearly. In the past GF claimed like 12% attrition or so but you really never know. What I'm mainly seeing and referring to are the US, DRS and SGP sites but I don't have much insight into the lower cost geos like Sofia and Bangalore. Anyone know the attrition rates in those areas? We can't run a differentiated foundry business with the majority of people leaving in 3-4 years, we will constantly be training new hires who will make us fall further and further behind in the near term. We must have new leadership, get rid of the CEO, the N-1 and N-2 levels and start over with a new strategy and leadership team who inspires employees to want to do great things and have a career at GF not just a temporary job.

I did spend 8yrs before getting laid off last year. That place has always played favorites with raises and promotions. There has been no accountability and bad workmanship, laziness is not addressed. Instead they got rid of the more experienced people and allow the toxic environment to stay. Good luck with that.

Seems like a pretty easy solution to the misery at GF. Leave...

Why would GF address the attrition rate? Seems that a majority of current employees are more than willing to do more work with less people. Scared employees who don't have the skills or resume to go to a different company. More than happy to accept <2% raises. If you're impacted by attrition and currently work at GlobalFoundries, you are part of the problem. Grow a pair, and leave. Otherwise, shut it and continue to do more with less.

Correct. it is part of their not so well hidden agenda but they will never openly state or admit it. How many times have our managers said they will backfill the position of someone on your team while you and your teammates take on the extra work. And it never gets backfilled ever. At best they bring on a contractor. Not a full time official employ. It is super shady and suspicious. Just don’t believe your management this is just another example of them gaslighting us.

I'm seeing the highest attrition in our area as well, people have had enough of GF and are finding new jobs where the company has a roadmap and values their employees. Everyone I talk to says they are out looking and trying to find the best match for them including myself. If the economy was better the attrition would be even worse but even with a bad economy, there are still plenty of jobs in the industry.

Attrition is part of the plan. The plan was always to outsource and have high turnover (attrition). If GF really wanted to reduce attrition, it would have been addressed aggressively. Everyone assumes GF looks at attrition negatively, don't judge GF by their words on attrition, judge by the actions at reducing it. There has never been any real actions to stem attrition. The one SLT member who took it seriously quit years ago.

Best not to invest time /energy into GF as an employee. Weak raises, slow promotion and constant threat of layoff. Ask those who have left if they are happier and healthier.

That's the thing. Employees don't want to leave in 3-4 years but when the company does all they can to make this an undesirable place to work with staggered out raises and promotions people are going to jump ship in this economy.

No sense in staying to take care of a company when the conpany does not take care of you!
