Are we safe?

Should we consider ourselves safe from cuts until next year?

Of course you’re not safe. End of year layoffs and Severances are just now being announced by many major corporations. My LL4 has told me that most Ford divisions are under review right now. It is coming, and very soon. 👎👎

The company has already tasked each operating unit with a head count exercise but is calling it an operational efficiency review.

No. Never safe. Why even post sh-t like this? Especially since next year is weeks away. If it makes you feel better yeah, enjoy your holiday break and don't spend it asking these questions to strangers. Have your resume ready. Your LL6 isn't safe and neither are you. LL5's that are close to retirement are just waiting until they are told to leave.

GM is no better. GM is also looking to cut heads to reduce engineering costs, see thread from GM's tab
From Nov 29 Analyst Call
“Specifically, we will continue to execute our $2 billion net fixed cost reduction program by the end of 2024. This includes lower salaried people costs, lower marketing expense, and additional overhead reductions. Our Winning with Simplicity initiative is already reducing design and engineering expense, supplier costs, order complexity, buildable combinations, and manufacturing complexity.”
