I just heard that Diego Valdovinos, General Counsel for Ford Latin America just passed away. According to LinkedIn, it appears he was in his mid 40s. There is a picture with him and JF taken about amonth ago in his profile. Although I'm sure he loved his job, but at what cost?

HEY HENRY ARE YOU GETTING TIRED OF TURNING OVER IN YOUR GRAVE??

Ford MOtor Corporation is now officially the Ford Woke marketing corporation.

When all are forced to move into the cities, ev's will make sense until then give me a v-8 with some power and start drilling for oil again.

Why is a CEO even making more than 200k????

Does anyone remember the 70's when all healthcare was 100% paid, only the man in the house worked, had a nice home, a cottage on Houghton lake, and bought a new vehicle every 3-5 years.k
Well back then the CEO or whatever didn make 1000 times the sweeper or laborbor.

Oh ya, the good old usa made stuff, now we are a service economy......with nothing to back the fiat currency. Ford could have changed all that by making vehicles for the working class an championing a return to manufacturing but no they got to be woke.
this experiment is not going well.

Fuedalism is back its all BILL FORD, AND THE SERFS NOW.......good name for a band!

Yea i know its a rant, but all is true. We are all FUBAR!!!

FLV’s contract would expire at the earliest 7/1/23, if he was hired on a two year. Let’s hope he and his entire department are gone before then, I’m not sure our financials can handle them wasting another couple billion dollars in the next six months.

She seemed to have that Deering in the headlights look.

Fact check:

  1. she's 51 not 38
  2. JF hired her on his 1st day as CEO
  3. Yes, she had a contract. Everyone at that level does
  4. A marketing director she brought with her from Verizon as canned in September

Speculation check:

  1. probably fired since only comment/goodbye posted on LinkedIn (company access immediately revoked like everyone else)
  2. why do you need a CMO when you are going sell EVs thru a "No haggle" sales model?

not surprised one bit and good riddance. she's another fake thinking she had what it takes to market a changing automotive company. PLEASE..... get rid Franck Louis Victor next... he's bleeding the company. PLEASE, review all the directors at NEXT, I've never seen so much bs from a group. talk talk talk and nothing gets accomplished, and they attempt to blame engineers for their incompetence. There's one id--t who gloats about his stupid printers, well we dont build printers we make vehicles and we have to sell them. Id--t has no idea what it takes to build a business.
i really hope farley is as brutal as people claim and he takes aim to eliminate LL4/3/2's that the core of Ford's problems.

She's in her 50s acutally. But all these outsider hirings, the board is getting what they have coming to them. How can you expect someone to pivot from eBay which lets be honest, during her tenure it was a waning platorm (still is, although I use it once in a blue moon). Also, if you look at the marketing research, the company collectivly over the last few years has produced some products which are not aligned to what the consumer needs or is asking for. Is she accountable? Yes/No, but maybe her stepdown is her being fed up with the way product gets into the cycle plan. Sure you can gather some really good consumer insight, but if the the rest of the executive team does not advocate for it, or you lack a strong voice (which I suspect may have been a problem) expect what you learn to never be incorporated into the product plan. I mean JF was the chief marketing officer; I will let the market share % speak for itself how he performed during his tenure in that position.

@1fu,

I believe everyone at that level are on (various) contracts, and certainly anyone coming in at that level will make sure they have one that says the get paid at least $X for at least Y years. I would be wondering if she came in on a two year contract and held her cards close that she didn't want to renew when it expired, except we all know that any departs unexpectedly and says their plans are "spending time with family" it's code for being pushed out the door.

PS - is she really only 38? I thought that she looked closer to my age and I'm long past even thinking about being that young.

Wonder who is at fault here, Suzy for not getting the job done in the auto biz, or JF for a big mishire. Anyone know if she is on a contract and will get fully paid for years to buy her contract out?

Who can tell who is next with the tsunami of retirements happening? I am sure some of those are "encouraged."

These wh-z kid millennials who come in from tech become disillusioned very quickly in the automotive industry. She is 38 and I'm sure the slow pace of change in a 110+ company was very hard for her to navigate.
I'm sure more will try but will find themselves in the same situation. My advice, take the money and run.

Leaving to spend time with family….and excited about Ford’s eCommerce businss!!!
We will be selling tshirts and a wedding venue (if renovations are ever completed).

From Detroit News:

Ford Motor Co.'s top marketing executive is departing the company.

The Blue Oval said in a statement Wednesday that Global Chief Marketing Officer Suzy Deering, who joined the company from eBay two years ago, will be leaving her role effective Friday.

"We thank Suzy for her contributions to Ford and wish her all the best in the future," Kumar Galhotra, president of Ford Blue, said in a statement.

The company declined further comment on the circumstances of her departure. Deering announced the move in spa statement on LinkedIn.

In her post, Deering said she joined Ford two years ago "because of the mission and belief in what is possible now and for the next 100 years. During the time I've been at Ford a lot of change has happened and the path forward is even clearer and more spectacular. The crafting of teams to help invigorate new thinking and leverage the greatness and timelessness of the expertise is unstoppable. Today I still believe in this mission and vision."

She wrote that it will bring "great joy to see the fruit of the labor of standing up an in-house eCommerce business to support the needs and expectations of the customer," and said she would be "rooting for Ford and smiling at what comes to life."

Meanwhile, Deering said her priorities are "God, Family and Work" and that for now, she will be "spending some time with family and giving back to the One that makes it all possible."

Apparently that strategy to only hire executives from the outside isn't working so well. One of Susie's disciples who was brought in at a director level was canned in the fall.

Great news! Fewer useless executives and the associated expenses is a good thing. They haven’t removed her from the Corporate Executives page, but this will takes us from 94 to 93, only need to get rid of another 50 to compete with General Motors for efficiency in leadership.

Apparently, selling stuff on EBay is easier than marketing poor quality, recall prone vehicles.

why are you surprised? farley is eliminating anyone he sees as a threat or not capable of making him look good. you think suzy is the only one thats getting cut? louis-victor is next, followed by baumbick and plenty of other ll3/2's.
