Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Infrastructure Linkedin

Nothing like seeing our esteemed "Technology" leaders updating their LinkedIn profiles. I am sure that it has nothing to do with the current toxic situation that they have created. Give all of us a break. Does your resume include key bullet points like promoting inefficiencies, increasing technical debt, su-king up, using technologies from decades ago and running off people that do not see eye to eye. You are hired!

@2wpw+1tclpwdd I don't think I've missed the point; to the contrary I think you've proven that you have. Cr--ker Jack Coder left to work for eTrade when he found out he was going to spend 2h a day commuting rather than coding; Ivanna Goodnet probably the best executive I've ever worked with in terms of her deep and broad understanding of networking tech quit when her new Blue-side boss insisted she do something that introduced lots of risk with very little benefit. Polly Projectman finally got DR failover testing smoothed out, her contract was terminated by Blue because they didn't like the outsourcer. Dan Datacenter who had been threatening to retire since the Bush administration (I forget which one) finally did so after getting the Dallas on-prem presence thru the first TX winter since the Ice Age, only be rendered redundant by Schwab. You don't think this affects your technical ability to execute? "Culture eats coding for breakfast", Peter Drucker might have said if he were a techy.

How about TD allowed for anonymous feedback and leaders were not afraid of it. They took the feedback head-on.

How about the only reason this site is relevant is because there are no outlets available at Schwab to voice concern’s.

There are a few for you.

@1vvd+1tclpwdd Well for a few: not still using mainframes. .not. That sort of rot.

@Glad2beGone that doesn't mean anything when the complaint was one of technical deficiency

@1vvd+1tclpwdd, in the "Power of Moments" Chip Heath said "You can't deliver a great patient experience without first delivering a great employee experience." Substitute "patient" with "client" and you've answered your question. TDA got it. It was one of their core values, and they walked the talk. Part of their corporate DNA. My brief experience with Schwab made it clear to me they didn't get it. Not even close.

Schwab’s technology situation is a big joke. I feel for TD clients that came over and had to get used to 1990s ways of doing things. So sad
