TC and his minions don't want the attrition lower. This plays into their roadmap of moving more and more fab location jobs to low-cost geos like Bulgaria and India. Instead, they just make up data to make things look good but, in the background, they are celebrating every time a fab employee leaves and they can backfill in low-cost geo!!
It’s clear Tommy and the new HR person thinks we are complete id--ts because they wouldn’t present such a bold-face lie as a success story if they think they would get called out. They must think we are blind to the truth that there are more and more unoccupied cubicles by the week that aren’t being refilled.
Well, we aren’t stupid nor blind. We see and know the truth that they are too much of a coward to do anything with.
GF is the one of the weirdest companies in this regard. Sure every company embellishes and bends truth to some degree. But Globalfoundries just unapologetically bold face lies. It’s so odd. Do they think we don’t see the truth? And it’s almost like cartoonish child like amateur lying techniques. Like this particular example - bi--h do you not think we see everyone leaving? Come on?!
Attrition should be measured year vs. year, quarter vs, previous year quarters, trend from quarter to quarter, not some 4 year average which during early part of covid nobody was moving around. Typical HR, find one good nugget which was probably 2021 during covid and use that to manipulate the data. Why a 4 year average? That makes zero sense other than to dilute the real average. Also, don't forget to include the layoff numbers in the attrition bucket as well. How can HR be so dishonest????? This is why GF is such a non-ethical company with leadership inappropriately touching others and sleeping with their employees. The issue is HR reports back into the CEO so there are no checks and balances. Ideally HR would have their own equivalent CEO and report directly to board of directors where they could hold SLT accountable for their actions and then turn the company into an ethical one.
Pretty sure they want more people in high-cost geos to quit. They'll try to find cheaper replacements in Bangalore, Singapore, or I guess Bulgaria based on some posts here.
How many spots on your team have not been backfilled over the past 2-3 years, even before the hiring freeze and "economic downturn"?
In the end they'll shape the narrative how they want, and people won't see through it, will put up with it because they have to or just don't care.
Got to love when an HR person gives herself a high five for manipulating the data in a way that doesn't show the true picture. If you watch her present at events where TC is at, every time she says something she looks over at him to make sure she has his approval. Basically, she is TC's puppet, no brain of her own just getting her strings pulled to determine her direction. At the end of the day what is HR proactively doing to keep people instead of just manipulating the numbers to try and show less people leaving. Show numbers that matter, how many of the people leaving are you JL8, JL9, JL10, etc who are the bigger thinkers for the company and who typically drive the innovation? If that trend is increasing, then the company is in trouble because innovation will drop off. Why can't HR be transparent and show numbers which really matter instead of being snakes and trying to manipulate everything to try and make themselves look good???
As another post tread pointed out - literally everything at Globalfoundries is fake. Nothing is genuine or it’s true face value.
Just to continue on my point below- they choose to dilute the recent attrition rate spike by reporting a longer period of time. Instead of admitting the issue and spend effort and time to address the attrition, they choose to just massage the data and pretend everything is great.
I am paraphrasing here, "We report the truth, even when it's hard" OK buddy.
Over last 4 years- that's the key point.
Being in AME under PB's reign for his entire "administration", we all have to learn the fine art of massaging the data to present at 9am DOM, which itself is a masterclass in micromanaging and undue verbal abuse. Instead of putting forth time/effort to fireproof the root cause (which btw, have fun chafing against a clusterfu-k of bureaucracy to get anything done), we waste time fine-tuning a 10 minute presentation so we don't make our director or manager look bad to prevent PB ripping everyone involved a new a-hole.
We all know the attrition rate for the past year or two has been high. But they present it as "over last 4 years". Perfect showcase of the data massaging that this place is so used to doing.

I found that odd, to beg for clapping. Also the whole presentation of the CFO and the new GM, etc. was pathetic. Current HR girl very weak. And the best I found was TC promising to implement the wellness program starting with this meeting by reducing the time for Q&A's and getting a coffee break. What a BS! Not to mention how they twisted things around when they discussed the future of the programs they were announced last quarter on attrition reduction as well as early retirement.
That will change when you see the raises or lack thereof for several people.
Also a flatout lie on attrition.

I heard y'all had a great Globalcast presentation on Wellness and how to reduce stress. How about not threatening people's employment every 3 months as a start. TC on CNBC said he's going to maintain profitability even in the face of reduced revenues. The ramifications of that statement are what is driving up people's stress. The SLT is really in La La Land or they think everyone else is stupid enough to swallow that nonsense.
If the attrition is low, why the he-l sue IBM to stop recruiting the GF engineers...Yes it is like a joke...

It used be in high 50s now it is in high 40s! Kudos to whole management to sc--w up the GF! And shatter the once dream of becoming global foundry. Joke all joke.
Not sure how many times we have modified our vision. No one does that except GF. Only we keep changing our target as our performance keeps going down to fool the Wall Street. Now it is all open secret.
