Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

payd off by video call.

Cant believe that after 32 years with Baker I get a email saying I have a video call from my manager at 11am and to my surprise my manager and a HR girl was sitting there 5 mins later thats me done and dusted.
Told to send in all my equipment in and paperwork will be in the post to sign.
32 years and all over on a 5 min video call no discussion or options or even a thankyou.

What kind of a mo–n makes a political statement like this "Wait - let me guess" remark. In times of peoples suffering, families suffering from termination after years of dedicated service. Whoever you are you really are a scumbag!

Wait - let me guess - You voted with the party that consistently supported tax cuts for oil companies like Baker, defended their business practices tooth and nail, decried climate change and allowed oil companies to harm your own health by polluting the environment you live in, and in the end they weren't even GRATEFUL and laid you off at the first sign of lower profit margins?

You don't say......

Any word on Sand Springs,OK layoffs? New young management has no idea what they are doing- coming from Whirlpool appliances to BH tells you they aren't interested in hiring knowledge in leadership. New young management has no idea what they are doing. HR bailed out weeks before - knowing more of what's to come.

Baker are paying off thousands in every area, selling off whole departments and going to be slashing pay.
The company is a total mess with no work and zero leadership.
I for one will be leaving asap why would anyone want to keep getting treated like this by a company with absolutely nothing to offer long term, we have been paying off in Aberdeen for years now with departments cut back to a few people from 30 to 40 five years ago.
We have no experience left to learn from and your expected to work 24/7 to cover any job going as the company are too top heavy to get the jobs we need to keep going.
Aberdeen is a terrible durty city too live in with zero future, thankngod I rent as costs nothing but cant buy a house as every year keep dropping in value by tens of thousands and been like that for 6 years now

@1vmi+14VOIOyx I was paid off in Aberdeen.
It's the start of months of daily pay offs my manager told me after the call .
Baker did this last time in Aberdeen to avoid the publicity of paying of large numbers at once so just do a few each day for 3 to 6 months.

"Smart" and "working for an oil company" is now an oxymoron.

Well I hope all these new guys reading this and thinking there hot shxt getting a job with a big oil company , this is your future.
You getting a job becase your cheap end of.
A few years down the road will be getting paid off and replaced by another wave of graduates and the cheap labour continues.
Most oil companies now every 3 or 4 years get rid and start over.
The good times of big money has long gone and why all the experienced people are getting paid off as on 3 times the salarys and bonuses that the company can't remove as written in to old contracts. Nothing to do with retirement age as most of these people are not even mid 50s
Schlumberger and weatherford seem to keep far more experience to train up people but Baker unfortunately have turned cheap with no core values or loyalty.

This too shall pass. Breathe deep and polish your resume. Reach out to your friends. Grow your LinkedIn network. And think about doing something else.

Sorry to hear that. Seems like there are two common things happened to those who were let go. Either you are newly hired or you are at the age of retirement. Unfortunately the person who is making the list does not look at individual performance because he/she has no f—ng clues.

We were all laid off pretty much in the same manner, whether only 8 years or 25+ years. Nothing personal

Now, just see how the ship burns from the outside. The organization has been f*ed with the high turnover and knowledge lost over the years. If c-ap was bad with people, imagine now with fewer people.

This from the company touting “its about the people” and “CARING”

Loyalty doesn't pay and it hasn't for a long time. That's why nobody stays at any company more than a few years now.

I feel bad for the OP and I wish them luck.

m—ers... that's the reason why they don't get people anymore which are identifying with the companies anymore. Again ,just social r—ded stupid m—ers. There are no other words for such b—s—. Hopefully you can get out of the crisis. Lets say When one door closes, another opens
