Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Cancelled my Allstate policies today

No more loyalty in my personal
Business to Allstate Insurance.
Over the last two days I cancelled my auto policy (5 autos), auto club, homeowners, 2 rental policies, and a 2,000,000 umbrella.
I have encouraged all friends and family to do the same...
Allstate did not pass my assessment of an ethical and loyal company..
I only pray that I am never in an accident with someone who is insured by this company..

Bye bye Allstate! I’ve been insured with Allstate since before I started working for them. Over the past 27 years while working for the company, I’ve kept all of my insurance (autos, home, pup) with them, out of loyalty, knowing full well that I could easily find it cheaper elsewhere. I’m relocating within a few months, and will rid myself of all things blue when I do. I’ve got a large and loyal circle of family and friends, who I’ve convinced to move everything to Allstate over the years. They’ve mostly all bailed now that they’re seeing how hey treat their employees. And they’re saving up to 50% with their new carriers! I’m sure Tom & Glen counted on persons laid off moving their coverage. Did they not think that there would be a ripple effect with family and friends? Good riddance, Big Blue. Collectively from me, family and friends. The current count is 11 homeowners, 27 autos, 6 pups, and 2 life insurance policies lost due to their actions. So far. . . . more are pricing coverage, and you’re about to lose my home, 2 autos and pup.

Insurance companies will usually give you a multi policy discount if you have homeowners and auto through them.

@1vla+177fJgEb- Try getting a quote from Mercury Insurance. They may be better than any of the ones you listed. Claims are claims. There is really no difference in the way Allstate handles claims from any other insurance carrier.. I worked for Allstate and had Mercury. They work with the same vendors and everything. Allstate is just overpriced and has nothing to differentiate it from any other company... except that Allstate has probably won the title for least ethical in its treatment of its workforce.

I called a friend of mine I haven't spoken to in a few years who works in a State Farm office, I wanted him to give me a quote and told him what was going on, he started laughing and said he is shopping around to get his insurance away from State Farm, I guess they had significant layoffs a year or two ago and just cut a bunch more for their bank, said it looks like lots of their stuff will go overseas as well. It seems like they are feeling the same way.

Anyway he said he would give me a quote Monday but he said to shop around, he hasn't been able to beat Allstate on price for most people for the past 9-12 months, he was looking at going to Allstate as his cost would be lower for same coverage.

I think we are all screwed in insurance.

We are also in the process of cancelling. Two autos, home, PUP, half a dozen specialty and scheduled policies, and a rental. Even with our “employee pricing,” other companies have much higher ratings and significantly lower prices. Keep up the apparently great work GS and TW.

I had also stayed out of loyalty (30 years) paying exorbitant rates on auto policy. I started shopping before they let me go last week. Mainly because I don't agree with how claims are being handled and the outsourcing of work to India. Now securing quotes and guess what? All quotes so far cheaper for same coverage! All top tier rated insurers beat Allstate hands down in cost. (Some more than half the cost!) Bye Allstate...I'm just sorry I've thrown away all I could have saved in the name of loyalty. If you haven't shopped, I suggest you do whether you made the cut or not last week. Allstate has shown their hand.

I recently left AARP / Hartford after 15 years (I think it was closer to 20). They were gouging me for hundreds a year for 2 cars, 1 house. Right now my house is with farmers and cars with progressive. When it's time to renew I'm gonna shop again maybe put both with the same company. I actually saved hundreds of dollars.

I would pay more for insurance at another company after seeing how things are handled all around here. I never had Allstate insurance as I did not feel safe having my company as my insurance provider. Did not want to have to fight with my employer over claims or billing issues both of which are highly questionable. Now after all this mess with the lay offs and how the company treats its employees I will make sure everyone I know stays far away from this disaster even though I was spared in the lay offs. Here only for a pay check going forward. Bare minimum effort from now on.

I called an independent agent on Tuesday and he asked for copies of my policy coverages, I have umbrella, home, 4 autos, and a few small other policies. The agent called me back this morning and said it took so long as he was trying to do what he could to find me good rates, he said the best he could do would switch me over and reduce my coverages in order to get the same rates, otherwise my auto would go up right about 150 over 6 months, my home would be 285 more every year. I don't know if I will do it just yet. I may check out State Farm or Farmers, anyone try them?

I cancelled my Allstate policies as well. I NEVER even looked elsewhere for 27 years because of loyalty, when they pushed me out I cancelled all my policies (Home, auto, condo, pup, motorcycle)

I wasn’t let go but I canceled all my policies (auto, home, umbrella) and went to a better company a month or so ago. Also selling everything I have with an Allstate logo on it

As an Allstate employee recently hit by an Allstate policyholder (on the first day of my vacation), you’re right... I’ve prayed to never have to file my own claim with them, and fortunately it was cut and dry as I have surveillance and dash cam footage of the entire incident so I was prepared to fight for it. I dreaded having to deal with our own claims process especially knowing my peers would be handling my claim. Just keep praying you don’t have to deal with Allstate.

I am due to take my assessment. Irrespective of the results, I am moving my auto, home & umbrella policy elsewhere. Have been an Allstate customer for 25+ years. I have some friends read these discussions and they plan to change as well. #MoveToBetterHands

Agreed. Allstate failed my assessment as well. Already changed my policies over as of last week. Also I am making sure all my family and friends change their insurance and get as far away from this company as possible. Over my 14 years here in many roles I have by my estimate brought over $50,000 in current premium still on the books but most of that soon won't be. After seeing how this company handled these layoffs I cannot with good and fair conscious keep friends, family, and anyone else in their filthy slimy hands. And this is all coming from someone who was deemed safe, for now at least.
