Is there a way of getting ahead at Xerox without having to morph into a corporate stooge? From what I've seen so far, that seems the only way to secure a promotion. Tow the company line and ignore everything else or kiss any chance of a promotion goodbye. Is this the way things are these days?

You get ahead by leaving. Plain and simple.
Play the Corporate a__ kissing game
Get on your knees
All depends on who you work for and how much your business unit C level leader likes you and values your manager's opinion of you. All about faking the smiles and how much you love doing the job of 3 people for sh---y pay and taking on others' workload while they clock out on time and you're stuck doing not only your job but the job of lazy employees above you. I speak from experience too.
@1uyf
Ah so you passed the test to see if anyone would catch how I purposely spelled d-mbest wrong......
I have a life, thanks and I will NEVER be an a-s kisser like you probably are but don't worry people like you give us non a-s kissers a good laugh now and again
Sorry the truth hurts you 😝
pk53t, some people can spell "d-mbest". Get a life, OK?
No. Valid ideas are rejected. Research funding is non-existent. You can get ahead by being an egotistical blowhard, but then you are that person and everyone knows it. Leave with dignity or climb the ladder to the top of the cr----a heap. The choice is yours.
Xerox is numero uno in bu-t kissing to get
a promo.Management melts around the a-s
wipes.
in my experience, the less you know the higher you go
Some of the dummest people I've ever worked with kiss bu-t and keep getting promoted
Step 1. Leave Xerox to a company with actual opportunity.
Step 2. Receive easy promotion.
Get in the Webster nepotism line with your
degree from Rochester Institute of Technology. Guaranteed promo for the know nothings ..
I knew when I hit the ceiling, about 2.5 yrs ago, and for me that was the signal it was time to go. Had xerox people stayed at the top im sure I would have gone further up the chain but they were never going to promote me because they were looking for people who were not connected to the xerox way and I had been there over 2 decades. Someone said it above — be realistic. There is no more movement in that company except out.
There’s no where for you to go in this company!
As the Titanic was sinking people moved to the decks that were above water.
I'm sure if you sacrifice 80 hours a week for no extra compensation you could get a comfortable seat on the half of the ship that is still above water. Good luck!
