Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Why was it more shift people than M-F people impacted in AME?

Aren't the shift people the lower paid ones who keep the place running? Wasn't the goal cost savings? Are the EEs going to be expected to go into the fab to fix tools more often since they get the privilege to keep their jobs and don't have to be paid overtime?

You saying "...try to move on and find another job if you are this bothered. If you can't make changes right away please look into and take advantage of EAP services. Your posts are easily identifiable and your behavior doesn't seem normal" - this is exactly what HR would say. What Dpt do you work for?

It seems a lot of techs in cfm were laid off which isn’t part of AME so has a different manager

@1utq Here's a reality check: nothing you post here will accomplish anything, other than minor catharsis. Although you keep posting the same inane BS so I'm not sure it's even having that effect for you.

Really consider what your attachment to GF is and consider if that's something within your power to change. The point is this: try to move on and find another job if you are this bothered. If you can't make changes right away please look into and take advantage of EAP services. Your posts are easily identifiable and your behavior doesn't seem normal.

Etch AME is perfect representative of he-l GF sample where you can see all bad attributes that make dept / company fail. Bad and incompetent managers with licking characteristics that promote toxic and biased culture that is totally unacceptable. Let us bring this in our survey and get this management cleaned up this cycle. We deserve better guys.

AME is led by wrong person who never delivered a single project in her life. Results are obvious.

After 8 years and yes I am 50yrs old, I was laid off. This was not job performance based. I never had a bad review and performed work that higher level and more experienced techs could not. I guess I should of sat around, did less work and played on my phone. The good in this is no more stress and aggravation. I already feel mentally better. The moral was already terrible before this, now with laying off good people only going to get worse.

@kpa @czt If you had the least bit of awareness you'd see there's already enough division at GF, even down to different shifts from the same team. OP's probably sharing an observation. Maybe your team was impacted differently. Prevailing thought here was that non-manufacturing teams would be harder hit, but it appears to be the opposite. At least anecdotally. Does adding that bit make you feel better?

In my module all but one were over 40 and the other seemed close to it. How do we view the ages?

@zcd+1kgYJbsb Yes indeed and the NYS DOL was notified Friday regarding the ages. Legal counsel and advocacy has already been engaged and assigned. Stay tuned.

All 3 shift MT’s for AME Etch that were laid off were aged 50+. The only 2 AME Etch “EE” “FDC” support staff who were laid off were also age 50+. Pretty obvious who they targeted.

Ahh, the old us versus them ploy, we know where you're going with this.

In at least two modules it was no more than 2 on E shift (who apparently volunteered) and at least three on shift. Used to being next to nobody on shift

@OP
Kindly provide the numbers of impacted shift people vs. M-F in AME? Should be readily available in HR.
Smells like " divide & conquer", not welcomed here, and not gonna work.
