Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Compare GF gross margin with rest of top ones

28% for GF vs >50% for the top foundries. Survival will be always at stake for any foundry like GF if there is no cutting edge tech to bring premium . Cost of doing business with mature technology has already proven to fail based on so many examples . Not surprising that shares are tanking and able people are jumping the ship.

If you’re in management at GF you have very few career prospects. No one is going to hire you at a leading fab. What successes will you point to? There’s nothing GF is known for, not yield, not quality, and not technology. It’s a tough place to be in.

Lol it’s 15 Church. Tell me you can’t afford to cut steak with Tommy, without actually telling me. Take your “””smart””” wall st money and go to a seven eleven because that’s all you can afford with that b-m wage.

It’s okay- realize that Tommy and the rest of those chucklefu-ks will never include you and me in any of their soiree, just because you ride a high horse while screaming “hard-working” and “not triggered”.

@1sey, please enlighten us on how you some up with your numbers since they seem like total BS? TSMC will go from near 50% down to 30% once they operate in AZ? One or two US fabs will bring their total gross margins down from 50% to 30%? Something doesn't add up with your math.

28% about right, once T start operating in Arizona, it will come close to 30%.

Boohoo. TC this. DR that. GF is sinking here. Last nail in the coffin there.

All you triggered softies have been saying the same thing over the last several years, while GF’s revenues/profits have been going up and margins have been improving. Once China takes over Taiwan, it isn’t going to be a margins game; it’s going to be a China vs Western nations in semiconductors. “Best-in-Class” margins will never happen in US/Europe vs Asia because of stronger and wealthier middle classes, normalized to population, in US/Europe.

If you haven’t quit, do so. If you have quit, disappear, and let the rest of us work hard, make that smart Wall St money, while eating steaks at 17 Church, making real personal progress in life. No one wants to read your mentally-ill tirades, anymore.

I doubt Intel will by them now. GF is left with bunch of jokers who never delivered on their whole career. Not sure why Intel will entertain these boot and a-s lickers who are sitting all over management. Not worth it.

Gross margins have been GF's problem and being only 28% is not good, doesn't give you as much cash to reinvest back into the business as UMC and TSMC are doing. Further to achieve 28% GF has cut back so much from the development budget with layoffs and canceling programs/technologies that they are even selling away their future to achieve short term results which aren't good. The game the CEO and CFO etc are playing is they give Wall Street their own targets and they meet them. Well Wall Street is starting to figure out the targets GF provides are not competitive with other foundries so as a response they are selling off the stock which leads to a 10% aprox decline in one single day. The writing is on the wall, under this leadership of Mubadala/Breen/Caulfield/Reeder and the minions under them they are failing!! The only real hope longer term for GF is if they clean house in upper execs or they get bought by Intel and then Intel cleans house in the upper execs at GF. Ask yourself a simple question, how many of these retread execs GF has were actually successful at other companies? The answer is none!!
