Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Character as----------n

Feels that way to my paranoid self. Can't get a callback or interview in 5 months despite literally being the golden goose for so many years. Hurting me is one thing, but my family is innocent. I'm sure this is just me overreacting to a stale market and overvaluing my self but damn, if I'm right, please knock it off. I'm human, make mistakes but have mouths to feed

I just laugh at “top performer at Schwab”. Says who? The stupid manager that was reviewing you. Hopefully you realize by now that being reviewed by a fool was not in your best interest. There are no good managers at Schwab, just lemmings trying to survive. Why anyone would stay is beyond comprehension.

I feel like that’s really cold and callous to say. None of the lower level employees deserve that treatment. Jobs aren’t easy to come by, especially now. If people had the option to leave I’m sure a lot of them would. Glad you aren’t here, sounds like it could have been even more toxic.

Left Schwab a few years ago right after TDA deal close. I love reading these boards. Glad I made the decision to leave when I did. For those that chose to remain, you deserve this. It’s pretty clear how evil and stupid Schwab leadership is. You have a choice, abandon the company and put yourself first or enjoy the treatment.

You guys should watch the movie Margin Call released in 2010. A lot of parallels to what is going on here, and how tomhandle yourself with dignity.

I put all my severance into Nvdia stock. Also bought an Apple Vision Pro. My wofe is leaving me now.

@1uml+1rLg1DrG so you admit you are mediocre! Lol! These are some of the types that are still left over and programming logic for Schwab. ROFL.

Did you say your family is thinking of leaving you? The whole family? That's insane- every family faces uncertainty and needs to support each other through it.
I thought i would get laid off in October. My plan was to take the first decent but low paying job I could get while i continue the dreaded job search. Im lucky that I don't give a f*** what people think of me and if I was back to waiting tables I would make the most of it. There is growth potential everywhere, even just learning which is better than money.
My plan was to get a job in a school (preferably one of my kid's schools) and supplement my income by working weekends at a hotel. Hilton amd Hyatt have ki-ler discounts for employees and careers for internal candidates. I always wanted to travel more.
Just saying maybe there's a good short term option. And you can travel when your family bails on you. (I hope they don't and that things get better)

No STS manager has good hair and they all know what a container is.

Containers are what ICs carry lunch in so they can work while eating.

There are too many id--ts without an innovative or caring bone in their bodies leading technology. VPs that don't know what MVC, JS, or containers are.. they have wonderful hair, smiles, and connections. What a farse

Thank you.. I have been feeling quite useless recently. This market does su-k. I thought I would grow old and retire here. I'm getting offers at 20-30% of what I made a decade ago. My family is considering leaving me as I no longer earn money but also have a dire health issue. A man shouldn't cry but I do

Schwab doesn't care if you are a top performer or golden goose. They just want to replace you with someone cheaper and younger. Management are rewarded bonuses for making cuts in the short term. It will affect the company in the long term but management only cares about $ they can put into their pockets in the here and now.

If you have been there a while and making more $ than most, it doesn't matter how much business you bring in. You're prime for cut. Just look up the rankings and who they cut. They would scrutinize every email and paperwork you completed to come up with an excuse to get rid of you. It's very petty but that is the type of managers they have right now. It's not about trying to work in their client's interest but trying to build up their own bonuses. Clients will suffer but Schwab does not care about their clients.

I think it’s hysterical to refer to yourselves as “top performers” or “golden goose” at Schwab. That’s like saying you’re the genius at a special needs camp. You’re not getting call backs because you have zero skills and worked at a place where everyone is mediocre. Let’s be real.

Just make it a goal to take as many Schwab clients away as possible. They have a terrible model that makes money for Schwab and not the client. Make sure to bad mouth Schwab wherever you go which would not be a lie. I know a lot of clients who missed the TD model.

Since Schwab is sc--wing their employees, it's time to return the favor. There are so many of us who can bring Schwab to its knees.

I had to take a job with Enterprise. I wash cars, rent cars, pick people up. Pays $40k but there is a management track. I was a GL58

Same here no interviews for 5 months now. Even after referrals. Top performer at Schwab for 6 years, exceeds or far exceeds rating.

The market is the worst I have seen in my 20 year career. Even with a referral you aren't guaranteed a recruiter screen. It is incredibly frustrating.

Please step back. Job searches are 90% emotion, so if you put out negativity or frustration that will thwart your search. It is unlikely that anyone is blacklisting you. The risk to the company is too great and our policies are to only confirm employment. No one should hold the RIF against you.

Yes, seeing so many good people go and struggle is angering. To watch incompetents like Rama, DH, Tiny, Says, Peter, Walt, Bernie and others survive as they make the company a cesspool is infuriating.

Some of the search challenge is the market. Lots of labor was laid off at the same time. And companies have hiring freezes. There are positions out there, but they require luck and timing.

Might I suggest that you contact a few people who have hiring experience and have them assess your resume, cover and interviewing style? You’re indicating that you aren’t even getting initial contacts, so clearly the focus needs to be on the resume and application. It would also help to consider methods. I’m guessing you’re finding a position online, filling out a web form and tossing it over the fence until they engage. That is unlikely to yield good results. Most hires are word-of-mouth and networking. Let’s figure out how to do that.

If you wish, post an anonymized version of your CV here. I’m sure some a-holes will offer worthless feedback to make their impotent lives have meaning, but I will happily review and I know a couple others here who will likely do the same.

Use any resource you can find to evaluate and assess. And remember that you will likely get ten opinions for every two people. You’ll have to decide what makes sense and toss the rest.

Good luck.
