Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Don't you guys ever get tired of complaining?

Nike is not the best employer but it's not the devil incarnate either. I'm not saying stop complaining, but at least occasionally can we see a positive post here, or maybe even two? Are you telling me that out of so many employees none have positive stories related to their job?

I’ve been disrespected from managers and directors transforming into keyboard warriors. These is where I go to make sure it’s not just me.

HR clearly.

Sign of the times.

I think they are tanking the company on purpose, really, is there any other rational explanation.

Dear OP, Looks like you haven’t experienced the survivor show island which unfortunately is real life Nike. Please do not diminish people’s expression of what they have been through as mere groaning and complaining. If you haven’t had bad leaders and toxic teams, then so far you have been lucky. Chances are you are either newer at Nike or have your head deep in the sand. If your colleagues are poorly treated so shall you be when it’s your turn to be voted out of that glorified island. We were all Nike cheer leaders at one point, built the company, served the athletes. This is not complaining, it’s a “buyer be aware”.

I just quit Nike after 4 months because of toxic behavior by a Director of Engineering. I was shocked at her behavior and suffered an extreme stress reaction. In just 4 short months I saw enough to realize her manager and her peers were well aware of her pattern of abusive behavior and yet they allow it to continue. I didn't want to believe Nike was toxic as I'd heard either but it is true sadly.

OP, if you offended, then move on and stop coming here. Let us complain in peace.

Frankly, there is nothing Nike has done recently that’s deserving of praise. It’s been one bad decision after another, since January 2020. Off the top of my head:

  • CDA was the most incompetent, unprofessional thing I’ve ever seen in my entire career. The messaging, down to the actual decision-making was horrible.
  • Arbitrarily forcing employees back to offices, where they will almost certainly be less effective. We still have caps on conference rooms, still have to wear masks, limited amenities, etc.
  • The political propaganda. It’s disgusting.

It’s clear to all of us that leadership does not care about us. That’s why you see nothing positive. If you think this board is bad, try talking to some of the people you work with.

I’ve seen plenty of positive comments on here. They’re almost always from people who no longer work at Nike and say they’re much happier.

Better to complain and bring these issues up. THEY"RE REAL gripes and just not moaning and groaning.

this board use to only get posts during an actual layoff. but now it seems it gets posts all the time. I think it is a direct response to our new CEO and the changes he is making.

No longer does the culture feel like we are winning. It feels like we are loosing and people have to get cut from the team but nobody knows who.

Nobody wants to be part of a loosing team. And if they have no where to go they complain a lot.

@op it’s the nature of this board. So many people have been traumatized by Nike’s toxic environment. This is their outlet. The head of HR doesn’t seem to take action on the employee survey and if you “speak up” you will be on the next layoff list.
