Where'd they say they were a lawyer? Or that Schwab paid millions in labor settlements? They have paid out on labor claims and commenter is right about the law, but carpetdownvoting them? God this forum is stupid.

Doubtful they are a lawyer 🙄.

🧌 maybe a troll.

No need to hate on the Lawyer, take the advice or leave it. Your beef isn't with him/her.

Labor law lawyer - why do you work here? Surely you’d be happier on the street corner with a tin cup?

Hundreds of millions of dollars for deceptive business practices as it relates to labor law? Are a Schwab lawyer? State your evidence.

Glad you know people who have situations that must exemplify the entire company.

Glad that I know enough labor law to understand potential discrimination and unfair labor practice lawsuits.

Policies must be applied equally to all. This is particularly true with protected classes. Otherwise the company exposes itself to settlements and judgements. You know. Like the hundreds of millions they’ve paid over the years for deceptive business practices.

I’m no legal scholar like some of the people here, but I read “permanent” as the person is permanently moving away from a Schwab office (not to return) and they have permission under the current rules. If the 7,000 remote WFH employees are suddenly laid off (in what world is that likely) then they will deal with the ramifications.

Glad you know people who have situations that must exemplify the entire company. Are you that disgusted with Schwab to think anyone might not be in the same boat? If so, you just prove this site is the virtual underside of the bridge where internet trolls go to hangout.

I know three people who applied as away from an office. Two were given six month approvals. One was denied. The two are in process to renew again.

People who had offices closed and were automatically given remote status did not have to apply. They were not given permanent remote anymore than everyone else was in Covid. The agreement language is clear that it can be revoked at any time. Those people may not have to renew, but they also didn't apply in the first place.

Are you obnoxiously volunteering that you applied in the first round of requests and were given permanent remote with a written agreement distinct from the general employee agreement and language? If so, you will have opened the door for dozens to enter into discovery and arbitration. They will appreciate that.

file a medical accommodation, if they reject it and something embarrassing happens at the office let’s say a panic attack or anxiety attack, that is grounds for a lawsuit bc it could have been prevented. Even more so if you’ve been working from home a lot.

And so shady of schwab to hide the exception request in a general blueprint email featuring "top industry awards "

I was told that even if my Manager is ok with me being remote, the Directors and MDs aren't ok with that and they will Reject the Request when it goes to them for approval. So I am interviewing on Tuesdays and Fridays for other jobs and will one day just not show up. No 2 week notice. No good bye emails. I will just ghost them. That'll teach them a lesson.

You’re complaining about a 40 mile round trip?? Is this real? What did you do before 2020 corona?
Tell that to someone who’s making 40 mile one way trip.

Before lockdown we had limited remote services and no evidence mass WFH would be successful. After years of thriving, including the largest financial services merger, it is absurd that anyone would propose going back to expensive, time wasting commutes because.

As for a 40 mile one-way… I’m not going to pile on to the obvious.

Before Covid co-workers were in office the whole team Devs, POs, Managers, Scrum Masters etc.. Now why would I go just to be on teams all day ?! That makes no sense. Also Schwab doesn't pay well.. I am already interviewing.. hopefully will jump this sinking ship soon...

I've heard that even medical exceptions need to be renewed every 12 months.

I'm rejecting all new requests that come from my team. If you got one before, you can likely keep it depending on what my management says. There is zero chance new ones will be approved.

We should all move our money else where and get new jobs and just quit this sh!tty company. Just do it.

Rejected despite medical reasons so went the official route and got a Sedgwick accommodation. So now approved for medical reason via accommodation. I do t have to renew this as far as I know.

EC has instructed leaders to reduce remote positions as much as possible.

Is there criteria for any approvals or a percentage target (>0%)?

We know it is coming, and likely this year, but how they implement would still be of interest.

Currently approved for remote. Already denied for this round. Others in my current and previous org are experiencing the same.

It is apparent they are trying to get people to quit. Regardless of contribution or worth, they want to lower head count. Quickly.

Only one in my team going in driving 40 miles everyday. My request was rejected. Both Manager and Director are fully remote. So are all my team members in 3 different time zones. I filed an exception saying I dont interact with anyone in the office location and it was still rejected.

File for a medical exception. Approvals will be reduced and days in office increased. There’s no reason for this other than ego and control.

Hopefully if you are submitting a new request you’re already discussed with your boss, and, if they are supportive, they’ve discussed with their boss…

I don't understand why they have an exception window, if all exceptions are rejected. Wtf

Manager advised I don’t submit one, I did anyway (1 hour+ commute) and it was rejected.

Manager told me that I should not apply at all. So manager already gave a clue of what the decision was going to be if I apply.
