Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Xerox and the competitors

It’s clear to me that we’re doing badly because the industry is generally in bad shape, but that we’re doing even worse than our competitors (prove me wrong) and I can’t accept that.

Simply, without a clear vision, I am afraid that no measure they take to keep the company alive will help. They can cut costs as much as they want, but it can’t go on like that indefinitely.

The competition is where all the ex-Xerox losers end up. Anyone with competence and a bit of vision leave the industry.

I could believe it, but the print industry as a whole is shrinking and I don’t see the investment to pivot elsewhere paying off in time.

Didn't the year review from Johnny V say that we outperformed out competitors and were #1 in market share for a few categories?

@1tkn+18Ltkjve, Hah, point taken! With exception to a sales role, I’d agree. Unless they’re just out of school, a high caliber sales rep in the industry should know better.

@cys+18Ltkjve Easy reason for people attending the second interview. The recruiters lie through their teeth. If you were able to sit in on one of the phone screens you'd laugh at the bogus claims recruitment makes about Xerox. Once people get a glimpse behind the shiny recruiter curtains at the real Xerox they run for the hills.

So true. But scary part is candidate actually went for the interview. I don’t think the average person knows just how 1990’s this hole is on tech and philosophy. The smart ones find out 10 minutes in and run. The not so smart ones 2nd interview? I can’t imagine why any talent would take a job here in... what... the last 2 years?

Glassdoor must have taken it down since I don't see it anymore but there was a hilarious interview review recently posted for a Software Engineering Manager. The writer said that Xerox tried to recruit them based on it's name in the industry but no one under 50 cares about Xerox anymore, the benefits were a step above working in fast food, the VP was an a$$, the projects were all waterfall, and the technology was like looking back on 1990. They were right on all accounts. This is what Xerox has become, a company so bad that good talent cracks jokes about working there.

Agree for the most part. Believe ricoh may have an edge in the race to the bottom. Feather and a hammer fall at the same speed in a vacuum. If only x had a tshirt printer or junk cameras (ever hear of a smart phone ricoh?) ... that would've solidified it.
