You will not receive EI until after your severance period, but you must register for EI within 4 weeks of your last day. If you wait, you will not receive EI.

Yes, you have to notify CRA and Service Canada for the severance package amount. I think you will start to get EI after your vacation payment.
I heard some people got 3 weeks per yr of service , some junior folks got 2 weeks per yr of service as severance package. It’s way lower than other oil companies in Calgary. Imperial greedy managers are very good at that. All companies fired management staffs (Supervisor to VP level) with regular employees, however Imperial is the only company that didn’t touch even low level supervisors. Management think that this Company is belong to their dad. However, employees who were dedicated for the company assets had been fired.

Also, do you have severance numbers? From most, I hear 1 month/year but I’m not certain about the cap.
3 weeks per year of service. Not bad with EI comparing to continuing work with high stress with tons of work load under Incompetent Supervisor at Imperial. Eventually, due to COVID everyone will suffer (either money or health) whether you work at Imperial or not doesn’t matter. This industry is over especially in Alberta.
I hear it was way less than a month per year, but may depend on circumstance and tenure with company
I thought the cap is 24 months?
A month a year up to 18 months
Worse than the other oil majors in Canada.
