Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Layoffs in CHO and Thermal Today

Heard of at least ten G+G staff, not sure if other disciplines were affected. The fun keeps getting more fun.

G+G is cooked in OS. Insecure managers, politics, bullying, and who you are friends with goes hard here - as shown in the “leadership team”. The actual good people are over worked/suffering, leaving, or getting sniped as threats to insecure LT (the lifers who will do anything to maintain power). The freeloaders/lazy ones love it. Good luck y’all!

Agreed and your points are valid. But when you have constant layoffs, likely the highest in industry, you need the HR goofs to support that lol

This is a great example why this company and senior leadership is failing! Cutting 10 Geologists and Geophysicists which represents a significant hit to the total number of G&G staff when we STILL have something like 400 Human Resources staff under 7 or 8 HR Directors!!! Who finds hydrocarbons? Geoscientists or HR Business Partners? Who does the work to facilitate the extraction of hydrocarbons? Geos or HR? Who does the work to explore for new sources of hydrocarbons to keep feeding the inventory treadmill so we can hit those production targets? Geos or HR Directors? I’ll bet HR people outnumber geoscientists 5:1 at this point.

They should fire the “leaders” who over populated the org chart in the first place. This would actually lead to cost savings so they’ll never do this.

Res and Prod affected in both Oilsands and CHO in the Calgary office. Haven't heard of anything in the field yet or the Lloyd office.
