Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Won’t let me bill out hand sanitizer

This morning I was told that we are not allowed to bill out anymore hand sanitizer or Lysol or anything to that effect because of cost cutting. They also said they will not be ordering any through spent management for the sales floor because of cost cutting. So when I use dirty keyboards, or a sick customer shakes my hand or uses my pen, or I have to put returned product back on the shelf that has blood on it (I was actually told to do that once), then I’m not allowed to protect myself ? I have to pay for my own sanitation at work? Its bad enough that we have to use the same bathrooms as customers, but when is this company going to take our health seriously? I think a bottle of hand sanitizer would be cheaper than an extensive hospital stay.

My store had no paper towels for 2 weeks. We have only dish soap to wash our hands in the break room and our tables are filled with crumbs.

The person who said just to wash your hands: how can I do that with the bathrooms at the other end of the building, I have a line of customers waiting for me to help them, and I’m the only one in my departments?

If your management team won’t allow you to wear masks, gloves, etc. There are 2 things you need to do. 1.). File a formal complaint with OSHA. 2.). Contact local news media/spread the information online.

Will we be allowed to wear masks? Sure seems that it would be important to prevent spread. I work in flooring and have to get right up close with customers who are hacking and sneezing all the time.

I know of several other companies who are taking precautions such as this and also having employees wear gloves and sanitize rails, keyboards, etc. etc.

If we are not protected by our employer and are told we are not allowed to protect ourselves then we have a couple choices. Call in.. or come to work get sick and sue our employer. An ASM in our store told us we would NOT be allowed to wear masks no matter what situation we were facing.

wow.

Stop waiting for permission to protect yourself from a pandemic. If you have to take it off the shelf then do it. It's not your product and it wasn't purchased with you money either.

And if you're still feeling guilty remember, where do those millions of dollars for executive come from? It comes from the money you generate that they keep for themselves. No permission or apologies are necessary.

Nice try but unless they're a store manager or higher ain't nobody working at Lowe's going to stop $3000 to find out if they have the coronavirus.

Simple way to avoid getting exposed/contaminated

Call in most particular on days that warming temperatures cause virulent strains to be more aggressive.

Call in most especially on days of increased customer foot traffic. Remember not all customers are as health conscious as you.
Their lack of proper concern is inexcusable

Simple ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in your workplace
The low-cost measures below will help prevent the spread of infections in your workplace, such as colds, flu and stomach bugs, and protect your customers, contractors and employees.
Employers should start doing these things now, even if COVID-19 has not arrived in the communities where they operate. They can already reduce working days lost due to illness and stop or slow the spread of COVID-19 if it arrives at one of your workplaces.
• Make sure your workplaces are clean and hygienic

No surprise!

Lowe’s management has NO clue about preventing cross contamination of viruses/ bacteria. They force employees to come to work and spread the sickness to everyone.

“An Once of prevention is worth a pound of cure”

You can rest assured district, regional, & corporate will ensure they’re protected with preventive measures!

We grunts on the front line can just rot as far as management is concerned.
