This company has built up so much waste in the past 10 years, and specifically in the last 8 months. All these support groups "working from home" such as ACE, OpEx, Enterprise Capacity, the list goes on. People working ~30 hours a week throughout Covid and they didn't think it would catch up to them. Not to be insincere, but personally I am ready for the layoffs. Then at least maybe those that have been working hard through all of this will get our 10% back, and merit raises next year.

If you missed family functions and sent your kids to lesser schools because of PW work assignments you drunk the kool aid. Unless your a cop, doctor, military why the heck would you do that? Your not protecting the public or saving lives at Pratt.

Yeah, really nice to not have control on your vacation
Must be nice to have gotten plant shutdowns. We never shut down, even when EH did.
Don't act like I am the only one... how many of you lined up your vacations with plant shutdowns and missed your kids' school functions or their first time walking or some other BIG moments because you were running late at work and had to finish your f—ing project... sent your kid to a closer schools to work than driving them to a good one on the other side of town...
You only change your fate or your kids fate when its your OWN company. Boy were you drinking the kool-aid. I could feel the negative energy and stuffiness from the furthest parking lot away. There's a reason why everyone looks down to the floor in the mornings as you pass by when you arrive to work. They are all zombies who have drank the kool-aid. At least if your going to sacrifice your families life for a company, pick one that has a better culture and is modern, forward thinking. PW has wayyy to much bs. Sorry dude, wake up!!
"Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids"
“People put their life behind this company, changed the fate of their families and kids, made different choices to support it during the time of its prosperity”.
Wow, you really did this!?!
They really brainwashed you huh? Jeez, did you not see the bs and how they treated people? Did you not firsthand hear/see friends or co-workers get screwed and treated unfairly. You were exactly the "type" of worker that they were looking for. You gave, adjusted your whole life for them until they no longer needed you. It was just a matter of time. Wake up people! You had years and years of warnings Pratt has always been Pratt. Stop acting so surprised that you are getting screwed. Its always been there!!! Don't be surprised when you hear EH location being moved out of CT either. Nows the perfect opportunity to get out of a hell whole CT. New Hampshire or the Carolinas sound nice. Don't say I didn't tell you. There's a reason EH looks like an old run down prison. Those are surely prison bathrooms;-)

If you did the following below, you’re priorities are messed up. You are a number to them nothing else.
“People put their life behind this company, changed the fate of their families and kids, made different choices to support it during the time of its prosperity”.
Don’t forget to include the newly created jr managers jobs with 1-4 people reporting to them while they work from home. The fellows who are not known beyond their group. The program management folks whose only purpose is to treat you like a 3rd grader and micromanage every aspect of your project. The modelers who can’t predict part temperatures within 200F. And the list goes on
A few ounces of truth to this post. Unfortunately, the company will no solely let go of the fat. There will be some useful, experienced workers affected in the chaos. Remember, some of the management who make the decisions are fat
Reality check for you. The so-called "Pajama Warriors" you seem to have an axe to grind with aren't the enemy. They're not the C-Level executives that are deciding whether or not to eliminate your job.
That said, I agree with your overall point. Your vitriol towards people WFH aside, there are a lot of seat warmers in the company that need to be let go, both onsite AND offsite.
You can see how many "work from home" pajama warriors I've triggered with this post. If you were actually putting in 40 hrs/week you wouldn't be so defensive about it.
These groups have been created to add more management layers within PW. These should be looked at and addressed at this time.
I like how OP assumes he will be safe and get the 10% back for him and his buddies...
Maybe he is one of the mangers who slays others. If you were canned someday, remember your post and know that all your hard work and catching up has paid off. People put their life behind this company, changed the fate of their families and kids, made different choices to support it during the time of its prosperity.
Nice to see the inaction has worked out, people just fighting and blaming each other... divide and conquer in hard times is the way to go if you are an a– of a company...
I think we already figured that.
From what I hear there will be no merit increases in 2021 and there may be more furlough days as well.
Workers should not be blamed for inefficiencies at the company. They’re just trying to make a living.
Do not know how people doing work if meeting all day, I know people meeting all day will work many extra hours outside the meeting.
I've worked remotely for 8+ years and can tell you I put in a full day and get more done from home.
I have been into work from day one of covid. We had no idea how bad it was. But we all came in every day. And all the people working from home are not even sure if they dare come back this year. Are they really needed? But it will be the people at work everyday that will get most of the cuts. A very large percentage of management just reports the status up to the next guy and then then next level up regurgitates the status to the next level. At least least 4 times. There is your fat. I have seen it for decades. Go ask workers where are we at on the project. Run back and tell someone who tells someone who tells someone and if the deadline is meet they all get rewarded.
I worked my 40 and was glad the day was over. Nonstop webex and zoom meetings sometimes ran thru lunch. It took a toll. I was an eager to take the July VSP. Seriously I don't know how Commercial Operations will survive unless Pratt is willing to carry it for several years. But once experienced help departs it will be difficult to replace when things pick up.
Should have kept Otis & Carrier.
Remember, people are not "fat". The in-efficiencies are PW created.
The company created the positions, interviewed folks for the positions, hired people, trained...etc
To imply that people took the jobs to be put on corporate welfare is insincere.
as of this morning the market is not being kind to RTX. The company announced layoffs then nothing. Inaction costs at least 13 million a day. Sell fewer engines, repair few engines that's just the environment. The company has to react and it seems that reaction is muted or non existent.
Agreed. Those departments were relevant during ramp up but not anymore.
I don’t think you’re insincere. What you said is true and there is a lot of waste. How many people working from home are actually putting in a full day of work?
