Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Silicon Valley Bank

I’ve had a few coworkers recently take on positions over there. I understand most of the positions are fully remote. I have heard good things about the culture over there. Anyone have opinions on working there? What are your experiences? They don’t have a specific forum on this site so that is a good start I suppose…!

I interviewed, and had an offer. I got turned off by the number of people that had left from the BCP area for SVB that were on deck when we had the SV outage 2/17/2019. I am sure SVB is ok over-all. Shallow end of the pool that's for sure. loans for vineyards, small shop lots of talk about diversity during the interviews. Pass

SVB is great, and if you come over from WF please don’t bring the toxicity. That said, they are pulling back on hiring right now, so good luck getting in.

I know four people there, 3 seem to like it while 1 hates it. Salary similar to WF but they embrace remote work. In fact, very few ever go into an office. Person that hates it tells me they force DEI down your throat to the point of being nauseous. About 6000 people he tells me, but an international bank no less!

Svb is quite a different culture. Expect. To work very hard, there’s not a large risk function and most of it is truly building out the programs (the. Doing the ongoing work) vs wf that already has the programs in place. I personally didn’t like the culture seen from interviews. I’ve seen quite a few toxic risk people from wells go there over the last few years (to be fair a few good ones too!)

SVB is terrific! Two of my friends work there. Cream of the crop.

Where's he gonna go? Believe it or not, other companies recruit the best talent. The best qualified, and the market is tough. Not your race or s-x to check off a box or be a statistic. And the best at Wells Fargo are not asking such stupid questions, here of all places.

Mission accomplished, don’t even work at WF and got him to leave. #highfive

I love the snarky answers so far. You people are the reason I want to leave.

This is a layoff site, not glassdoor. If you have to ask these questions about any company, you are the "dead wood" the C-suite thought would leave.

I’ve applied to a cr-p ton of their open roles with zero success. Not even a single screening interview.

Why don't you ask the coworkers that left?
