Which yard do we want to shut down today? Let's go over the numbers with Vena. Focus on Western depots. California costs too much money. Which port do we close? Intermodel down? Can LA pickup Norcals work? What's it gonna be?

The company always wants to blame the workforce wages as a reason they are not as profitable as they could be. No mention of how much they spend in stock buybacks, executive compensation, dividend payments, etc.
Funny how people like @1rgg say things like “union employees getting pay increases is making the company go broke”, never say “Management getting raises and unnecessary bonuses are making the company go broke”. Remember when Fritz got caught saying things to the PEB that our wages do not add value to UP, that he had to make a courage to care video about it apologizing and making up reasons why he had to say those things?
The only thing greedy is in the glass palace. 90% of them could be let go and the company will still run smooth, if not smoother without them. Look at where most of the salary goes to. Stop making excuses for greed.
They had record profits and massive tax breaks. Stop making excuses.
Well you need to pay a premium price for a premium service, as the suits say.
Hate to tell you guys but the union contracts pretty much dictated this. Look at UPS, Stellantis, and all the other union companies that are laying off soon after negotiating the new, expensive contracts. The pay raises might be good but if they are not economically viable for the company, something has to give and that will be jobs. UPS just announced 12,000+ layoffs and they passed a historic pay increase in Aug 2023. Stellantis (Chrysler) has done the same thing. Yellow Trucking also shuttered due to union pay increase demands. How do you think the record union pay increases are affecting the railroad, especially in this time of economic decline?
I'm not saying unions are necessarily bad but it seems as if greed took over and this is the result of it.
