Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Why isn't everybody looking for a new job?

I don't know many people who are satisfied at SF, so it's mind-boggling that there are people who are not even trying to change their job at a time when there are so many openings that many companies are offering incentives to people to join. This is the right time, folks! If you don't leave now, I don't think you ever will, at least until they kick you out.

I find it odd so many of you downvoted the manager who said he/she doesn’t micromanage their team and let’s their people use their PTO as an adult. Isn’t that what everyone hear is advocating for? Yet people whine when someone is actually doing it?

Seems it’s just ticked off that some people are in departments that operate as adults, instead of being happy some areas are actually doing the right thing. That’s a whole other level of bitterness.

That Sales Leader position is the one that got downgraded from the field executive or agency manager position. To many layers maybe it’s good to trim the fat. Agency compensation is next and it’s going to be a big one.

Your brother must be a sales leader, I heard they lost there company cars. That position was under review a while back, it’s going to disappear along with specialist position. I hope they saw the writing on the wall. Tip saw at work.

Im just jamming as much as I can afford into 401k and associate funds. Going thur the motions, no family no anymore here, I take care of my team, but the ones up top let this happen they are going to clean it up. My brother in agency getting ready to get whack, turn company car in within two weeks and u are going virtual all of them and no guarantees with your position going forward. My advice pack as much cash away as possible and watch it come down. Good luck to everyone!!

If you don’t leave now when there are 11 million job openings and the chief requirement is can you fog a mirror you have zero hope. You are condemned to being a minion.

Golden handcuffs, people. It was so hard for me to walk away even as miserable as I was. Luckily, I put myself in a financial position where I could walk away, and I did just that last month. I paid off my debts and live on less than I earned. Now, I'm free of the stress and can move on with my life. If you're miserable, figure out what you need to do to leave, and leave. The company doesn't owe you a damn thing (and they know it.). But you also don't owe the company a damn thing. Get on with your life.

@1qwg Don't let yourself be bothered over some of these posts. There are people that waste their time just to stir the p-t and upset those that are going through this experience.

@ngl+1cvGaUGW

that's not a luxury others have

PTO what is that?

you don't seem to understand even with qualifications they don't let individuals leave claims, they deny promotions because they cant loose you

I do agree to an extent job market is favorable but telling people why they don't leave is really rude and dismissive, you don't know each persons individual situation to just generalize like that.

My entire team and suite is happy. We have amazing work life balance. I am a manager and I don’t require any of my team members to ask before taking PTO. I don’t micromanage or babysit the team. I do ‘team building’ days twice a year where I take them out to do something fun for the entire day. All the leaders in my area do that.

A person’s experience at SF really depends on their department. If you’re in departments like business, marketing, law, investments, technology, strategic consulting, enterprise research, digital, etc SF is very much a career.

If you’re in a production environment like claims, underwriting or call center, the environment sounds horrible.

If you’re in one of those areas, my suggestion is to take advantage of SFs tuition reimbursement and get an advanced degree. That’s what I did. I started in underwriting; spent 3 years getting an advanced degree (SF paid for $22k of the $30k it cost) and now I’m in one of those other departments and love it. Even if you don’t want to stay with SF, get the degree and move into a high in demand skill with another company.

They have legitimized the work force down to people who don't know any better.

Because there are probably still a lot of people close to retirement eligibility left. I don't know why anyone with a minimal amount of time with the company would stay.
