I chose NOT to go in. Anyone else? Those who did, how was it?

They can’t offer more flexibility around the days that we go in because facilities and real estate uses spreadsheets to coordinate desk assignments and space. Gotta love Schwab’s stellar technology!
100%. I had a recruiter reach out. I told them the location was too far for 100% in office and would need, at minimum, hybrid. Well wouldn't you know... they offered 3 days WFH. Still didn't proceed with the opportunity, bad culture fit for me.
@2hcz+1qn50WXS haven't came in yet. Managers have discretion, Walt said so. He wouldn't lie. My manager told me don't bother even though I wasn't granted an exemption. Charge him with insubordination.
The funny part is that you think we care
For those of you who did not RTO when told to. Schwab will look at that as insubordination. You can be replaced. I would be careful.
@1tpc+1qn50WXS Remote jobs are out there or can be negotiated — was contacted by a recruiter and I said I was only interested in a position in locations x or y, not where they are hiring (none of which indicated hybrid let alone remote). He asked if I was interested in remote. I am looking for something specific with a specific type of company so I wasn't interested in the job itself, even if remote. But they are out there (and will depend a lot on the type of position you are in).
@1qor+1qn50WXS That's a f'n performance issue for those individuals that broke their WFH agreement or who refused to come into the office to swap out a laptop when they live 10 min away, NOT a reason to punish an entire company. That's just poor people management and poor leadership. Period.
They did offer flexibility - but not many people followed what they said they were going to do - so now the heavy hand prevails.
Agreed. They should have offered more flexibility with the three day schedule. I am sure the true motivations were monetary. With Schwab all you have to do is understand that all decisions are made with saving the most money possible. The belief by leadership is that if people do not like it they can just leave.
I do truly believe that this is just the start and at some point Schwab will mandate a 5 day workweek. They will however wait until the most opportune time to announce it.
@1tpc+1qn50WXS Many corporations are doing the same thing but only Schwab is mandating 3 specific days a week. They truly did this in the messiest way possible to push people out.
Dozens - won't make a difference. Most major corporations are doing the same thing. So good luck finding a 100% remote job in 2024
@1lqy+1qn50WXS sorry, not going in
Those saying it is tomorrow are only partially correct. It is tomorrow if you are a non-PL. PL started RTO today because they have to be in the office 4-5 days a week. The offices were filled with them today.
Dozens of us aren't going in. Likely more. Seriously doubt anyone will say anything for a while. Then they'll threat and audit and possibly terminate. Some will stand firm and others will bend.
Even more will likely be good minions and be unproductive in silent protest. It is unlikely that anyone will care. The EC will smile as they get reports showing a scared workforce is more than 80% compliant.
The question is if we were good enough to get hired here and when this nonsense will turn. We need new staff to save money and obtain skills that we don't have internally. Folks have options. Keep your head down and we may find a balance where both sides think they are winning. That means some continue to work from home.
I despise RTO but folks who don’t go in will only give more excuse for execs to tighten the leash. It’ll backfire for you when you are reprimanded or fired and it will make it worse for those of us who are trying to manage the new system the best we can.
It’s tomorrow genius.
HAHA well that explains not being questioned...at all.
First day of RTO is tomorrow, not today…
