3 days left!!! August 31 is my last day! I too am one of the claim sc-m, minion who’s back this company was built on.
60 years old and happy to be leaving on my own terms. I have a good 401k, pension at 80%, IRA, and savings. Home paid off, cars paid off and minimal credit card debt. Living below your means is the key. Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s, drive older cars, shop for clothes only on sale, used furniture, DIY home repairs, cutting my own grass etc. I’ve always had enough confidence in myself, that having material items don’t make you better, you make you better! So, to all those still working and up in Hock to your neck, 66 years old, I feel sorry for you. Stuff don’t keep you happy, it’s temporary. You make you happy. Goodbye and good luck 🍀.

My retirement day is coming soon! Yes there are those that have been with the company over 30 years. You can take your pension early and get a different job.

@1qnm. Perfectly said. If you have a TM or a coworker over their late 50s they are beyond their means or they don’t have a life outside of SF. I went out in my late 50s comfortably even with a new vehicle. Piece of cake. I was claim sc-m. In today's environment highly doubtful.

Retirement is not just about how much your retirement pension and/or 401k is. It’s also about your expenses. If someone has to have a new car, trendy house, fancy clothes, etc., not to mention child support and alimony, they’re probably struggling with a full salary. Live within your means with low debt and retirement is possible even in your late 50’s.
It’s as simple as that. But what do I know, I’m just a former claim sc-m minion.

Assuming you’ve been out on the “Pension Calculator”? If so, assuming you’ve got sh*t ton $$$ saved up in your 401k?? And guessing you have at least 30+ years service?? About only way to go out early, unless you can afford to live on 30-40% of your current income. Early to me is prior to age 62, which would result in diminished pension benefits.
